Console version?

First off I want to say its been about a year since ive played GCII, since my laptop died(overheated) playing this game.  I think its an awesome PC game and I loved designing ships and conquering the galaxy however i saw fit.  I especially enjoyed loading the gigantic maps and playing for a month with some wars lasting a week.

Back to the main topic though.  I own a xbox 360 and well the strategy genre is rather slim on consoles.  Granted there has been Supreme commander to port over as well as Halo Wars coming.  Yet the main reason im here thinking bout GCII on the consoles is after I played the Civ:Revolution demo.  Very well done, built from the ground up on the console.  The turn based speed fit well with a console's controls.  Not a big fan of the realtime ones as id prefer the mouse to move quicker.  So I got to thinking how much I miss playing GCII and figured Id throw my two cents in for a console version of the Galatic Civilization franchise.

Anybody else thinking the same way?  Or am i that lone person who wants a 360/Ps3 version.

You are alone.

I'm very glad that strategy gaming seems to remain the domain of PCs, just like simulations and in-depth RPGs.

Just to avoid any resentments, I have an X360 as well. Although I use it mainly for sports games, with a couple of action games mixed in (DMC4 was excellent, waiting for my imported Ninja Gaiden 2 to arrive - might have to make sure not to throw the controller too far, though. :D)

Just for your knowledge Stardock dose own the rights to produce titles for the "3 big ones" but as of right now there are no plans to do the port. At the least not as far as anyone in shouting range of me was aware.

Actually spelt "does". :P

But speaking on topic, consoles always have more sales than PCs, even RTS/TBS games. If, while you make the game for the consoles you made sure that the updates would be portable. For people with TA on the PC it would be an easy way for you guys to support it further.

Actually i think itd be better for the franchise if they went to a completely new game. Instead of just porting it over. That way they can build from the ground up, instead of tearing down the old game and trying to make it fit when they rebuild.

honestly im tired of playing COD4 online, which really doesnt challenge me tactically cuz i dont play in any clan matches. So win or loss its like whatever. So an awesome TBS would satisfy my thinking side alot. Thats why i just pre-ordered Civ:revolution.

Honestly if you have a 360 and have live download the demo to check it out. Its very easy to navigate everything. I know this is the GCII forum and im not trying to promote another game, just using it as an example.

Thank you, I would be lost were it not for that.  :p

You won't see anything on the consoles from Stardock for quite a while with all the projects currently brewing. There isn't anymore that I can say of course but I think anyone that is a fan of our work will enjoy the new products very much.

Unless all they do is bitch and moan about the 'research non-bug' until I want to cave in their craniums . . .

Personally, all I have to say is keep up the good work.

PS I love the new avatar, Seabass. :CONGRAT:

Thank you much. :)

I am trying to teach myself Corel Draw. I have backgrounds in PS and Maya but for vector and flash I am lacking. I'm enjoying Corel Draw more than Illustrator for the effects. I am hoping to have some icons and stuff in my current suite. Whoa rambling.... anyway thanks!

Some of us have been playing around with XNA, and Microsoft has come to us asking about bringing our games to the 360 (Political Machine, most reciently) but nothing official has been planned. Too much on our plate as-is :)

I personally want to make a 'GalCiv: Pocket Universe' for the DS, but again, not enough hours in the day  ;)

Just in case you were not aware you should listen to BoogieBac. That is your games project leader. While mine were the musings of someone with in the company that bugs everyone else for as much info as possible that right there is the *ahem* "horses mouth". So to speak.
