Got my TA CD today (it took so long...)
I posted in another thread that i'm at least a bit upset.
As other customers I thought that I would receive a box and got a CD in a slipcase in an envelope and I'm really glad that the cd is intact because an envelope like that can't prevent any damage. I paid 20$ for this, but I knew that before. The price for shipping from Stardock is doubled in the last year if someone ask, i don't know why but for that package it's a bit too much.
For Europe, in my case Italy, is 20$. Then we have VAT (+15% i think for most digital product, 20% in this case). I don't know why today I had to pay 11,84€ to get the game from the mailman. It says that is 20% of 31,70€ + 5,50€ tax from my post office. 31,70€ is the price of the game+shipping (29.95$+20$). However this is a problem of us european. In the end I paid the tax that I hadn't paid buying digital.
I think I'll buy only digital because stardock is one of the few sh that actually doesn't make pay tax. Until it last.
Obviously it's not Stardock fault. The fault is of the fake free market in Europe.
The only thing I complain is the way the product is presented. If I want to buy GalCiv2 retail, GalCiv2 Gold and DA expansion I'll see the exact same kind of product. Same fake image (mockup or whatever), the same description (Digital Download + CD). There's no way to know that one will have the box and the other the cd only. And a customers doesn't have to read the forum to know what a description make him think. And well, usually games are shipped with box, only stardock (and few other) ships cd only game (and people usually want the retail version because they want the box, not a backup cd so is normal to assume that they will receive it).
Also, knowing that I will receive a cd instead of a box for that sum of money can change my mind about buying it or not, so the information is relevant.
I don't want my money back or a box that doesn't exist. I only want stardock to admit that it's their fault, without the intention to damage the customers but a simple naive behaviour in writing the description, and then change the information on the site and online store to avoit further mistake and problems with the customers. I don't think this is too much to ask.
Thanks
