Soon we'll be releasing the v1.05 update for Sins of a Solar Empire that should address many of the multiplayer issues some players have reported. This is a minor patch, however; more substantial updates will arrive with version 1.1.

v1.05 Changes:

  • Fixed bug deallocating particle pool memory.
  • Fixed cargo ship related crash caused when loading a saved game.
  • Increased the maximum length of map description text. If the text is too long, it will no longer crash the game.
  • AI missions no longer continue if a human player has taken over for them.
  • AI controlled units will no longer still have AI-control if a human player has taken over for them.
  • Fixed crash when attempting to toggle the autocast state for an uncontrollable ship/planet module.
  • Fixed capturable resource mines from being considered damageable.
  • Fixed sync error in multiplayer games caused by cannon autocast targetting.
  • Fixed squad owner infocards to gracefully handle large numbers of squads (100+).
  • Fixed crash if you run out of video memory when loading textures.
  • Planet asteroid setup now uses TotalMaxResourcesAsteroids parameter again.
  • Added two new maps: Melting Point and Ancient Gifts.
  • ICO accounts will now be forced to logout if you attempt to login with the same account.
  • Malice changed to fix CPU issues in the late game due to previous implementation of the ability. Malice now accumulates damage on affected targets and then spreads that damage when the buff expires, rather than spreading damage as soon as damage is applied. Its duration, cooldown and AM cost have all been reduced to reflect this. Malice is now target capped as well at 8/16/24 targets.
  • Fixed bug in galaxy generator related to vertical planet offsets when planets are too close together.
  • New default texture quality settings set.

Newb wiht a question here... When you download v.1.05, are you also downloading all fixes before (v.1.02-1.04)?

Shouldn't be an issue. Just update to the latest version using SD Central or Impulse and you're good to go. It will download the files you need to be up to date.

i wonder what if they will finish the sound problem in the next patch, ever since 1.04 came out, i and other recipients also get static noise happening, (refer to forum post Sounds Messing Up, in category Technical) i recently started the forum, solutions would be appreciate, all that was posted never helped, and yes i am running on a fast computer, dual core at 3.4GHz with ati radeon HD 3870 and 4 gigs of ram, not sure how to find out about my sound card though, i am just a beginner in the world of technology

I've tried DLing and installing the 1.05 patch, but it when I try to activate the setup, it tells me it's not a valid Win32 application  :NOTSURE:

Bad download, try redownloading it.

Where do i find the patch on impulse?


If you have the game registered, just go to the updates tab in Impulse, select Sins, and click the Update button.

To be sure, this is in the game itself, not on the website? Do you get any particular error when trying to create your account?

the patch only seems to fix bugs in the game, i hope thats not all it does. maybe add some new features to the game as well as fix problems during game play. i guess that will be in some later patches.

I have one question as being new to Sins. I purchased a retail version, just yesterday, does the update apply for retail versions as well, and can I still play with others online, without the update?

Yes, and no. The patches are just as valid for it as for the direct-downloaded version, and you will need to update to the latest version to play online.

How do I install the patch 1.05?


Just download it from the updates page, and run the file once the download finishes.

When is the next update coming out? Where can i find stuff on what the previous patches fixed? B/c this one seems like it was only very minor crash and bugs fix, i would like to know what else has been changed from retail version.

Two ways. First is to boot up the game and check the bottom right corner, and second is to look at the second line under the sins title info in Impulse. Impulse also generally shows whether updates are available with an exclamation mark next to the app.

You'll need to use the blue orb menu's option to show pre-release versions to get 1.09 (1.1 beta)

To bad they are not smart,  especially the ones on your team.  How come I get team tagged but my allies suck and I can ping all day as my capital planet is being punished.  They don't care.  Really lame.

 

I have a long game going on version 1.00,  is it worth it installing the patch now and starting a new game if I have no crashes?  The computer on easy is really kicking my ass.
