(resolved) No custom races in Twilight of the Arnor???

(resolved) No custom races in Twilight of the Arnor???

I just did a clean install of Twilight of the Arnor from Stardock Central, without having the beta version installed or such. Everything works fine otherwise, but when I set up a new game, the create custom race button on the opponent setup screen is disabled. Has anyone had this problem?

Resolution: If you had the beta, make sure you delete the gc2twilight directory from my documents\my games\. We will issue an update later this week that will automatically remove the data for later installs.

Also, not that big a deal to me, but if I alt - tab to my desktop while TA is running, when I go to click back on the game, all I see is a black screen. After a short time, I get this microsoft error CTD where i can send in an error report. I know someone else reported that too.

You need to run windowed mode.

Now your custom race will show as an opponent. Kind of a short term fix till they get the create custom opponents part back on as it doesn't let you tweek personality, aggressiveness, or any of those type things.

You should be able to edit them once you've got them on the opponent screen.

This is what I did. Just create a race as if you were going to play as the race. Then back up and choose another race to play as. Now when you get to the screen to select your opponents, just click the custom race you created on the right side and then click edit on the left under the race images.

Enjoy!

Not being able to get back into the game is not acceptable.  It works here but can you give me your OS and video card so I can try to reproduce that?

Also, one thing everyone should be careful to do is if they had the beta, to delete the gc2twilight directory in my documents\my games so that your settings are fresh.

Had the same issue, exactly the same symptoms - greyed out box. Tried the fix above - worked for me as well.

On initial install, I had deinstalled via SDC, then remembered I had not deleted Mt Games Directory. I canceled install (was about 20% through initial download at that point), deleted directory, started the install again.

I think I need to update my drivers. I have a nvidia GE Force 7600 GS with 512 mb RAM. My driver is dated 6/29/2007 according to direct x diagnostic tool. I have never needed to update my drivers yet for galciv 2 or for SINS, but I guess I should go update them now and see if it fixes the problem...

My OS is a pentium (not sure which one) 6400 @ 2.13 GHz (2 CPU) processor. I have over 2 GB of RAM.

I just ininstalled and deleted all folders related to Twilight then reinstalled and I'm afraid I still can't create custom opponents.

Uninstalled, deleted directory, purged the lot, re-installed via SDC, button still greyed out. Going back to "Pick Your Civilisation Screen" as described earlier in the thread still works for me if I select the Custom Icon, and I can still attach the required Custom attributes. Then on the last screen the Custom Icon is in the opponents list and I can select and use. "Create Custom Opponent button" on last screen still greyed out when doing the 'workaround'.

I just tried to install on my laptop that had the beta installed. Before I tried to install at all, I uninstalled the beta and deleted the twilight folder from the Program Files directory. I went to delete the my documents\my games\gc2twilight folder, and didn't even have one. I installed the expansion, and I am still not able to create a race.

One way or the other, we're going to make sure we take care of this tomorrow.  It works here but I think it's a matter of beta settings being cached.

Brad, the "Create Custom Opponent Button" is greyed out for me and I am 100% positive I deleted the Twilight directory under "My Documents\My Games" before installing. The process I followed:

-uninstalled Twilight Beta
-deleted main installation folder
-deleted Twilight user data folder under "My Documents\My Games"
-installed Twilight

The mere fact that you're trying to correct something that is, at best, a minor inconvenience on the night you released the game is why you've got such a loyal fanbase, you know. Go get some sleep for god's sake, we don't want you cranky. :D

Yes. Get some sleep! We'll all still be up in the morning playing the game.

I can't see how it can be related to a beta settings issue since in my case I have never ever installed TA (on either of my 2 machines) before the official release and I am seeing the problem as well.

Just an update, I uninstalled ALL of GalCiv2 and reinstalled. Same problem.

Thanks for all of the support today, and I know you guys will get it fixed in the next few days. Have a good night.
