Dude.#1. Advent illuminators have nearly twice the dps of the other range frigates including the side arcs.#2. You will not get enough counter units playing as the other races before I get guardians. Here is why:Step 1: I mass 30 illums and get first 3 shield upgrades for them.Step 2: I get guardians.Step 3: I get repulsion for guardians. If you rushed to kodiacs in a 1v1 I would roll you with illuminators. But, if you got a bunch of ships and somehow managed to repel my illuminators, I would retreat and get guardians after only 3 labs! You need 5 labs for kodiacs. If you somehow STILL repel my fleet, I get 2 more labs and repulsion.Even a noob can micro the guardian repulsion to repel enormous fleets.Sorry to flame you, but you can repel ships past the gravity well. The gravity well is actually inside of the "movement" well out of which ships cannot cross.ALSO, even if you manage to maneuver your ships to the edge of the MOVEMENT well radius, your fleet will still be spread OUTWARDS by the guardians. All I would need to do is charge your fleet with a guardian and have all of my illuminators attack your newly formed flank, while the guardian that "charged" you prevents your other ships from aiding your flank. Guardian repulsion will continue to unbalance the game until the ability is fixed. The only viable counter is returning armada, because it is also nearly uncounterable.I have a replay of repelling 200+ ships from returning armada using only 20 guardians this way. It was the the f*ng battle of thermopolae pass and the 300. Note: I also had 20+ drone hosts with fighters to kill the bombers coming. If you'd like me to i'll post it.
I'm not one to rush attack in the early game, but if recon informed me that you would attempt such a thing, then I would have to get you early and often before you were able to tech up to such levels. It would make for a short boring game, but the ends do justify the means on occassion. Anything can be countered, you just have to be willing to implement such counters.
