Hyperdesk

Hyperdesk

by The Skins Factory

http://www.hyperdesk.com/

So with Hyperdesk just around the corner, is this finally some competition for WindowBlinds?  How well will TSF and Stardock play together?  I know TSF used to contribute here, but they don't show up much anymore, at least with content.  I'm anxiously awaiting the release and can't wait to see DarkMatter.  Hurry up Jeff. ;)

What are your thoughts?

*UPDATE:  Hyperdesk is live.  Go check it out and leave your constructive  comments about it here.  (Notice I didn't say "only leave your good comments or bash it".  Constructive comments can be positive or negative but should be supported with facts.)

Reading what everyone has posted so far, I think I'll just stick with Stardock and support its skinners where and when I can.  ;)

Exe installers scare me. Is there any way to just get the icons out of it without having to run the damn theme and have it try to apply or anything?

You should be able to find them in the extras folders...Here's where I found mine C:\Program Files\The Skins Factory\Hyperdesk\Sony Ericsson Onyx Series\Sony Ericsson Onyx Series Extras

Ok...but when I run the installer what happens? I really don't want this thing on my machine, I only want the icons.

About what I expected...some parts are stunning, some are avg,and some parts are awful.
Jesh(like any good salesman),knows what to show...and what to hide.

Apart from the Disney stuff,it looks like they got a lot of mileage out the graghics...all 5 sets of themes look very similar.(My Colors does this too). ;)

Icons and media players...subperb
Start menus and taskbars...above average to good
windows and interiors/controls...terrible

I like a lot of their ideas, and am interested in where they are headed...but damn I get tickled at some of the descriptions...I know you have to be proud of your work and promotion is all about getting people excited but some of that wording is over the top. They make it sound like nobody can touch them...as tho they were all alone atop the pack AND invented skinning.

All in all,if you forgive the hubris, its a promising start...the only thing holding them back is the visual style format. ;)

the only thing holding them back is the visual style format.

Visual style format has nothing to do with the hideous design of most of the skin, the only place they are really limited is in the frames.

I have no idea what their pay skins look like but if they are anything along the quality lines of the Sony theme I would feel ripped off. Massive lack of effort and originality in almost every area.

I see Jesh is already blocking and deleting comments from anyone who has anything negative to say in his threads.

Lame. :CONGRAT:

Try checking the site?  ;)

Point being, the screenshots dont show the poorly designed areas of the theme, mostly icons, WMP and frames.  ;)

holding them back...as in the only thing stopping them from getting better John.

If they had done a better job of the windows and contols/buttons...these could have been very good.

I dont agree that they were hideous(except for the interiors)...that sounds like neowin talk...was the visual style great?...no,but it wasnt hideous either. ;)

Well, for me.. for all the hype.. certain parts of the Sony theme.. are... hideous... no two ways about it.

Have you loaded it?

Judge for urself. If you like orange creamsicles.. I suppose it's not hideous...my bad.

Was I not clear enough about the windows and interiors/controls?Yes...that part is terrible...thats not the WHOLE theme.

could someone tell me if I need to uninstall WB and IP? Once I install hyperdesk? If the answer is yes I'll stick with Stardock ;)

Ok so the free skin isnt exactly the most aesthetic thing i have seen. But the other skins look pretty damn good if you ask me.
There seems to be some bad blood between the hyperdesk dudes and some people on here. But it shouldnt deter people from having a look and making their own conclusions.
Disney theme looks exactly how id imagine a disney theme to look like. :CONGRAT:

You don't need to uninstall anything. So far, HD plays ok with Stardock stuff. The switch back and forth for me has been uneventful. I didn't even have to unload WB. I haven't however tried to uninstall HD, don't know if there will be any issues after that.

They said it will come eventually... Hopefully, eventually wont be a year away. They should, considering Vista has been out for a good while already, have made it for Veeeesta.
I really wanted to try it (:( I want wall-e!!!!

I still can't figure how the company that can't even figure out how to skin Vista got the Disney contract.

Well at least they finally posted a launch time they stuck to :d

I'd have to agree with Bebi the icons look great but I'm not willing to install HD to get them. :p

And from the ss' that Zubaz and vStyler posted those color schemes do look awful ;p
