Hyperdesk

Hyperdesk

by The Skins Factory

http://www.hyperdesk.com/

So with Hyperdesk just around the corner, is this finally some competition for WindowBlinds?  How well will TSF and Stardock play together?  I know TSF used to contribute here, but they don't show up much anymore, at least with content.  I'm anxiously awaiting the release and can't wait to see DarkMatter.  Hurry up Jeff. ;)

What are your thoughts?

*UPDATE:  Hyperdesk is live.  Go check it out and leave your constructive  comments about it here.  (Notice I didn't say "only leave your good comments or bash it".  Constructive comments can be positive or negative but should be supported with facts.)

Look on the bright side. The twelve suites they're working on right now, when there done, the site will be almost up. :) :)

Seriously, the site was suppose to be up in March, May, July and then we were told that no matter what it would be up last Wednesday (does anyone remember reading that?). So, I'll just keep my ears open.

This may be looking to far ahead but I wonder, after they finally get the site up, how long it'll be before a new skin (suite) is posted. 6 months? a year?

I would hope they're taking all this time and working on even newer stuff.

I'm not bad mouthing them, they just need to learn how "not" to keep crying wolf... ;p

Read some of the long-long posts. very interesting n informative. I checked skinsfactory website for the first time, didnt even know its name before. Its like I was reading about a mysterious old world of skinning. I think it would be interesting if someone could write a book on history of skinning with all these heros, villains and rivalries.
Am I sounding weird. Its all because I read harry potter 6 just some weeks before. :)

IMO OD skins all my PC there is nothing left so why to go in quest of someother software.
Even if someone gives me better softwares for free I will stick to OD so that I can be a part of this community.
I am growing very emotional these days. hihi ;p ;) :SNIFF!:

I'm really to the point now where I have to say "I'll believe it when I see it". I respect TSF and Jesh and the work they do, but the "We're launching...no wait...Ok, We're launching...no wait..." Has soured my view a tad.

There's still no interest here in using something that needs to hack files to work, when I already have everything I need to customize my pc. ;)

But it'll be interesting to see if its up in an hour when it's supposed to be or if an hour will turn into a week the way that a month turned into a year and weeks turned into months and days turned into weeks. ;p

Downloaded the free Onyx suite

Install was easy enough.
Nothing crazy in the EULA.
Fairly easy to make selections (I expected clicking or double-clicking to set options.  Clicking on preview seemed odd.)
Long-ish load time to change themes.
Not sure I'd have set Tangerine as the default substyle.
Had to reboot.
Had to unload WB.
Had to change to Win XP style (not classic)

Expected more file type icons to be skinned.
Not sure about the color scheme.

Which one is that? And yeah all I would want are the icons anyway, the themes are soo limited because of the msstyle format....fail.

Through the Hypersuite application, Can the desktop icons be resized? Or is it just the XP default size?

Sony Ericson.  Last one in the list.

Unloaded and went with VistaPlus by Adni.

Much better.   ;)

Exe installers scare me. Is there any way to just get the icons out of it without having to run the damn theme and have it try to apply or anything?
Well Probably not I suppose. I see they have a few third party apps to 'help out' Hypersuite.

saw that.  Nothing Stardock..Golly.  Wonder why not .

Exe installers scare me.
From smaller publishers I'd agree.

Don't think so.  But I loaded the suite, then loaded up my WB skin and the icons remained.  It's not perfect . . but it works.

Fail, I just wanted to be able to use the icons with Avedesk, not to apply them to Windows.
