antimatter?

just a quick question, i know the tutorials exsist and i have played them..

sometimes when i go to colonise a planet, there "isnt enough antimatter" this is using a coloney frigate.

or sometimes there is enough antimatter to build an extractor but not enough to colonise the planet...

however left over time, i beleive it recharges by itself, and then can be eventually used, is there anyway to speed up the recharging of antimatter? or what actually makes it?

There are certain technologies that allow for a faster replentish of antimatter--such as the advent, which can steal antimatter from enemy ships to add to their own. I'm not sure if there's a technology that directly adds to it though, such as a per second thing.

You can see how much antimatter a ship has by highlighting it with your cursor. It will show up under a small list including the ship's health ect.

Finest Hour for the Kol battleship directly boosts antimatter regeneration.
And both the TEC and the Vasari have antimatter pool and regeneration rate research options. Never played Advent, so I don't know about them.

Antimatter is like Magic Points from other games. Ships use antimatter to perform abilities, and recharge it over time. (The advent disciple never recharges) Performing a phase jump consumes 100 antimatter, but the cost can be reduced through research.

The TEC have the ability that, within their own culture, with certain technologies researched, the amount of antimatter restored/second is increased. All of the races have similar boosts to their abilities in their own culture (Vasari to power, and Advent to shields(mitigation?)(I am pretty sure that is what they are). They are some of the main reasons why culture is important sometimes in deciding the victor of a battle. If yu have some culture, even some, then your ships can get faster antimatter/damage/damage prevention, so you can, say, use abilities faster than the opponents.

Besides that, there are not many.

For the OP the main thing u need to keep in mind is that ships use antimatter when jumping. So jumping a colony around alot will leave it with little to no antimatter. Colonies also don't start with maxxed out antimatter when built they have to charge up. For this reason if your going a no colony capital at the start and getting a hvy capital and a colony ship u want to build that colony as soon as your scouts are done so its building its antimatter reserve. Then just be very deliberate with jumps make sure your jumping your colony into the next 1 jump away from the next planet grab asap, alot of people just sit their colonies at the last place they colonized the jump it 2-3 jumps to the next planet u cleared, it will get there with no antimatter and you will be waiting a long time for it to colonize.

Man I hate colonizing frigates. Jumping a colony frigate once pretty much drains its antimatter. If Im going to build a non-colonizing cap then the first frigate I build is a colony. Thats before scouts. This is to give his pathetic antimatter restore a chance to build up some sort of reserve. I absolutley hate the littly %$@#^ due to that and the fact that they die so easily. Makes me want a poster of the space whale in my office. I loves me some space whale!

On another note, why do all of the colonizing caps have to look so ugly? I mean, I know the Akkan is supposed to be a converted freighter but cant it at least be a converted freighter with some spinners or something? I mean the Falcon was a freighter but it was still cool. Ive got a minivan for the wife and kids but at least its a Toyota. And the flying kite? The look of that ship plus the gaurdian shield bubble keep me from ever "wanting" to play advent. I love the space whale abilities but if your going to make it look like a space whale/beetle can you at least give it a tail/legs or something and complete the look? Or pin striping perhaps?  :p
