Nvidia Users: NEW Driver 174.74 fixed my issue!

for: XP, XP(64bit), Vista, Vista(64bit)

WoOT - Looks like Nvidia has fixed the crashing issue!

As some may know, I have had a crash issue (with Sins) using newer Nvidia drivers after 97.46 (Vista).

I know some of you have had a: hard crash/freezing/minidump/driver (failure/recover) ... I've also had these issues since beta 2 - ALL OF THEM!

Well, not any more :)

I installed this new 174.74 driver (beta) from Nvidia last night and have been playing Sins since - w/ no issues.

I've listed the links for all op system users (Vista users may want to get SP1 before using this driver)

Supports GeForce 6, 7, 8, and 9 series GPU's:

XP link = http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_174.74.html

XP (64bit) link = http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64_174.74.html

Vista link = www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_174.74.html

Vista (64bit) link = http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_174.74.html

It must've been some big flaw w/ past driver(s) as you can see ALL series are supported on ALL platforms by this driver - hmmmmmm.

Thanks Stardock/Ironclad for keeping on Nvidia about this issue - it's been a LONG ROAD !!

Nice find!

Maybe this will shut those haters up that were blaming Ironclad for this issue.

Well, it looks like the crash issue runs deeper than the graphics driver for some - I installed the new beta drivers and my game still locks up so hard that I have to manually (push the power button) shut down my PC.

Sent in all my info to IC - hope they can come up with something - I really want to play this game!!!!!!

Meh. For some reason it doesn't recognize that I am using 32-bit Vista. Guess I'll have to wait for the official release.

That's great news guys. We've been working with Nvidia for awhile now and they've been making great progress and they are really good to work with. We sent them a special build of v1.04 to do some final driver testing on so hopefully that means the final version will be out soon :)

Issue w/ beta drivers and Vista = I have noticed that you may need to 'accept' the Nvidia 'cerificate'. To do this you have to find the driver.exe file then right click on it - then click on the security tab. You will see the 'certificate' listed - click on it then 'accept' or 'install' certificate.
I noticed that my Vista would not properly set up the beta drivers w/o 1st accepting this certificate AND setting the driver.exe file to 'run as administrator'
Hope this helps

174.74 is definitely an improvement. I never had stability problems in Sins, but I had a ton of distortion, hitching, and half-crashes in Crysis under 171.16 and older. Overall, 174.74 seems to provide a slight performance boost in games for me, including Sins.
