Only 1 account per CD key?

My brother and I both play this game a lot, and both want to play online. My question is, do we both have to use the same account or can we create 2 different ones using the same cd key?

If you both want to play online at the same time, then you will need to purchase another license (another copy) of SINS.

That rule does not apply to LAN, so you can do that with just one copy of the game, too.

You can't play at the same time with the same Cd key, but you can have as many usernames as you want on one account.

I heard each license is good for two installs. I could have heard wrong though, would be nice to get an official response.

I don't think thats what he's asking. You can create different usernames, per one disk, but not 2 actual online accounts, just usernames.

For two installs on computers you own. In other words, if I wanted to play with my son on our LAN that would be ok.

You cannot however have it installed on your computer in New York and expect to play online with you brother in Seattle. Get it? :)

Well, MP isn't just LAN. You can connect to other IPs too. ICO just shows you where they are.

Yes, but he/she would still require an additional license (a second copy) to be in compliance with the license agreement if doing anything other than using the second install on a LAN. :)

To play with you brother:
if you have two computers, LAN would be your best bet but niether of you would be able to play with other players at the same time. individualy one of you at a time could play without the other and with ICO players. (if you live together i dont think SD or IC has a problem with that, if your not i am not sure...) By logging into IC with one(shared) account, you could each then have your own (or multiple) "handle" or game name which each has its own record.

ok i butchered a mod install, and didnt back up all nessecarys and had to reinstall, does this mean i have used up my two legit installs? or does this mean if i install SINS on my wifes computer and my daughters computer in addition to my labtop, only two of them can connect (via LAN) at a time? i was intending on doing this once i fix on of the aformention computers.

No, you can re-install as many times as needed.

You can however only have the game installed (being used) on two computer systems you own, and only in a local LAN environment (for MP-play) in order to stay within license compliance.
