You save the game, or it autosaves. You click "Host saved game" and pick the game. It takes you to the normal player list, except all the slots are filled in with the names of the players who were playing them, just greyed out I think. The other people who were playing and have the save join and take up their appropriate slot(it even auto places them I think). Other people will occationally join the game even when they see they don't have the "map" which would be the name of the game, but it either kicks them out or they leave, either way they can't hit the ready button. When everyone is back you ready up and hit start.
