I wish they allowed colonization of gas giants, nebulas and stuff.

It could be done through a space station building... Like it was in Freelancer. There wasn't a planet everywhere but were stations in many places.

You fly your akkan into it, you press colonize and it starts building a station. Can be costy and with little slots. I don't mind that. I just would like to have some control over this area. On some maps it's sometimes really huge and maintaining control over it is a mess.

I'd also like to see more types of planets added, like oceanic...

Well, I thinkt he fact that some grav wells are uncolonizable is an importnt aspect of hte map design.

Check the mods forums, that's already been done.

Another question. When creating a Fleet and selecting my Capital Ship as the fleet leader many times a Frigate or Cruiser is designated the Fleet Leader. How do I overcome that? Thanks.

When you create a fleet, whichever unit is subselected (the one highlighted in the empire tree and whose portrat/commands you see at the bottom) will be set as the leader.

to your first issue with gas giants. There is a mod, i believe by the name of "Sins Plus" or something that allows you to colonize gas giants like you would any other planet (with a few differences of course) by the use of colony ships.

Like Kryo said, the one ship that is 'double highlighted' out of all the ships in that fleet will be designated the Fleet Leader. In order to change which ship is highlighted, use the 'TAB' key to cycle thru the ships in that fleet until you highlight the one you want as the Leader.
