How do you increase population on planets?

develop the planets and research the increased population techs

i was trying to reach the 6000 population max achievement, i found it really impossible unless i want to a play a game with liek 200 planets..

since i'll usually get 100 per planet/20 per roid, max.unless i am doing something wrong?

well....you will indeed need to play a large game and colonize alot of planets....and spend alot of money and resources upgrading......so its not going to be a quickie....
