how do i travel from different star systems?

There are several steps you need to take to do this.

1) Pressing the POST button once, not 10 times will manage this.

2) Using a username that doesnt make you sound like you are 8.

3) Once these are completed, you get the tech from the tech tree, to the sun and phase, like you would between planets to the other star.

In other words, get the long rage phase jump tech, then get to the star, and just phase jump to another star, took me a while to figure that out.
