question in regards to internet speed

I try searching everywhere on the forums and manuals as well as all the FAQ's but i just cant find it.

I have DSL speed is 768k down and 128k up.

I use to play supcom but if i got in a game with any more then 5 players i would lag the whole game not just me everyone. so my questions is does SoaSE use the same kind of networking for multiplayers. if i join a 4v4 game 5v5 will my internet effect it or is all based of the Host?

Basically is the games based on Peer 2 Peer and if so what the upload amount for each player?

its P2P all right ... on another thread, some high-tech mech declared that the host only synchronizes the data and that the game is really at the mercy of the slowest player in the game

I can't imagine the game using much more than that on an upstream. An easy way to find out is to download an app like FreeMeter which monitors your incoming/outgoing bandwidth http://freemeter.meta-forge.com/

When you get in a large game tab out, or put the app on a second monitor and see what your upstream is at..if it is pegged then yeah that's your issue. Also check to see what your upstream is doing before even opening the game, maybe you have a bug of some sort that is stealing it.

But, Supreme Commander is one of the most hardware demanding game so0ut there...I bet that was a limitation of your computer rather then your connection.

MY system specs are

Win XP
Amd 64 x2 5200+
2 gigs DDR2 800 dualed
8800 GTS 640 meg
250 gig sata 3 hardrive
internet is 768k down and 128k up

on Supreme Commander my system handled the game fine even with a TON of units on the screen but online play was to much for my internet.

I played a 5v5 game 5 players versus 5 hard AI but then agian that was my max limit on supcom.

I'll try using the freemeter and see what it says and give an update.

I think this game is more memory limited than anything else. It doesn't seem to touch my CPU much...but my 2gb of RAM stays pretty full. it stores a lot of info on a paging file on mine when it runs out of ram, which can make it hang pretty bad sometimes.
