First MP Game

Well, I tried my first MP game tonight.  It was a total disaster.  First, I could not figure out how to chat with other players.  I still don't know how.   The chat is well hidden.  Second the AI it was a 4x4 was agressive well coordinated and we were wiped quick.  The host dropped out allied losses of Capital ships was regular.  I held on to my one while attacking but as I almost finished off one of the AI's planets my home world was assaulted with the combined fleets of 2 AI's.  I quit also at that point sonce it was 4 AI's against 3 and 1 of those 3 was down to just their home world.  YUCK!  So,  how do you chat while playing in MP mode?

Press the enter key to chat. After pressing enter, you can hit tab to cycle through the list of players, allies, or all.

If you're playing against the AI, I hope it was a comp stomp or something. The AI has a tendency to make things really annoying if it's not on locked teams or a free-for-all.

Well thanks, didn't know to hit the enter key. I didn't host but, shortly after the host left what was already a bad routing by the AI's got a whole lot worse quickly. They kept chatting and indicating what they thought they would do but, they kept losing capital ships early on. Just before I left as I neared capturing one AI's planet, my home world was attacked by 2 AI's with 4 times my entire fleet and this was early on, within the first 30 minutes. I gave up. My nearest human player had lost all but their homeworld and their Capital ship so... no point. I was being attacked with 4 A.I. capital ships and 2 well stocked fleets. I had only 1/4 that total force. I quit at that point. Oh well. I will only consider a 2 x 2 to see how that goes. No more 4 x 4, for sure.
