Uh?

Have you tried playing one or more of the races?

They have different units, different structures, different tech trees, etc.

I'm not sure what your asking. Yes, they obviously have pros and cons but are overall fairly balanced.

I think Noobian12 means do the races have a specific bonus they add compared to another race. Example. TEC get more from trade because it's a trade empire at heart, Advent get increased cultural influence cause they are psychic and Vasari build stuff faster because they mastered nano-tech. As to the answer I don't think so. Beyond the divergent Tech tree's I don't see one race having a racial bonus and penalty if you pick them. There have been a few RTS games that do that. You see it alot in RPG's to.

Oh academic but as penalties to the bonuses I listed you could say TEC ships cost more to train because it's not a "warrior" culture, Advent can't extend culture through ION storm regions because the storm interferes and Vasari populations grow slower because it's a culture on the run. Look at nomadic tribes on Earth, many stay small they're whole life because the lifestyle demands it. As I said it's academic.

Those examples are great reasons why this kind of forced bonus is daft.

If he's looking for neat, global bonuses, too bad. The factions are quite distinct (right down to playschool stuff like 'TEC heavy armour' and 'Advent heavy shields'). The game has balance issues as it is, trying to force in more simplistic global bonuses isn't going to help.

Yeah i think i worded it wrong, i was thinking more along the line of race bonuses.

They exist, but they're either inherent to the race's ships, or defined by what techs the race gets and when.

For example, Advent have a racial bonus for shields - their ships tend to have higher base shield ratings than other races, they get shield-increasing techs early, and they're the only race that get shield mitigation bonuses.

On the other hand, their armour values tend to be low, and they don't get armour-improving techs until very late.

All the races have strengths, weaknesses and unique abilities in different areas.

TEC recharges antimatter faster in culture, Vasari gets a 15% damage bonus, and Advent gets a 6% shield mitigation bonus. These are in the culture research lines for each race.

PS: shamefully i copy pasted this from someone elses post :p only just found out bout this myself. This i beleive qualifies as a racial bonus (tho only in culture)
