Does AI Take Over When Someone Leaves Game?

I am curious what happens when a player leaves a multiplayer game. I am hoping the AI will take over to help keep the game balanced.

I got a 'Defeat' screen playing IOC. It has two options. One is 'continue playing'. The other is 'quit' I think.

If I can continue playing, am I actually not defeated?

What does my opponet see when I choose either of these? If I 'quit', is that surrender?

Thanks

"Keep playing" means you don't exit the game -- you can't do much of anything (can't even chat) but you do get to watch the rest of the game play out (if there are other players still competing). Aditionally, if your the host its usually wise not to hit "quit"... since migration doesn't happen, usually.

Code: c++
  1. if the player surrenders the empire stops doing most things and any ships that had orders will stop following the orders and just guard their systems or do whatever the auto-action is (explore).
  2. if the player quits all of the last orders given by the player will be done (like send ship y to system x, building what was queued..etc), but the a.i will never issue new commands and most things will eventually just revert to guarding systems..etc.
  3. if you quit/surrender a game and press continue, you go into observer mode, in this mode you cannot issue commands, but you still get income that due to a mistake can be used to give to allies or convert in blackmarket or used for bounty.
  4. The developers said that in 1.03 the a.i will actually take over as in a active a.i.

Have they said how good an AI it is?
If everyone's a load of noobs, you dont want hard aggressives taking over.
Similarly, if everyone's seasoned, you dont want easy economists.

I assume the host will be able to set the level of AI takeover when they create the game?
