3 fleet questions

As a TEC player

1- What's a good ratio of Fighters to Bombers for both your carriers (fleets) and hangars (planet defense) ?

2- When and why use tight, normal or loose for fleet formation, advantages/disadvantages for each ?

3- When and why use the "hold" or "local" as opposed to the "gravity well" command for your fleet ?

Thanks

(1) Depends entirely on what you're going to be fighting *against*. So scout ahead and assign squads appropriately :)

(2) Depends on personal taste and fleet composition. If you find your ships regrouping too frequently, loosen it up, or if you feel they're too scattered, tighten them.

(3) Some ships you may not want to let attack on their own. Though if they're in a fleet, they should be smarter about deciding that on their own.

1) I like to go heavy on fighters, because fighters counter the kinds of things that planets typically have to worry about (mainly siege frigates, but also scouts and bombers). If they show up with the kind of thing you need bombers to deal with, you'll probably need a mobile fleet to help defend anyway. I always like to keep a couple around anyway. 66%-75% fighters. This could change if your opponent is, say, spamming heavy cruisers. 2) I like loose formation. When you are attacking an enemy would with a mixed fleet, and you tell them to go somewhere / attack something all of the frigates will fall in on the capital ship and they all go to their next destination in formation. "Loose" will let them break formation and engage those targets without waiting for the (SLOW) capital ship. If you had a fleet of carriers with flak frigate escorts, you might want to use a different formation, though... 3) It's good for a) bringing your fleet back into your static defenses without having them run off again, b) backing off and letting those pirates travel through your systems so they can hit someone else.

1: I like my fleet with mainly just fighters because your fleet will be bombers them selfs if ur fleet is mixed well. 2: i always keep them tight cuz there is strength in mumbers and ur fleet is more than likely be able to survive as one then scattered so keep ur fleet together if u want minimal dmge. 3 hold i would use just when u want to keep a area to yourself and when the enemy fleet is retreating switch to local and youll be able to go in pursit but ALWAYS make sure ur fleet is ready for the advance on the enemy or youll cost your self a very good defense!!! both as Advent and any other side...(i think) but i can only say for Advent sorry but hey every bit helps right?? lol
