TEC---Strats, perks, personal preferance

I just first want to say Sins of a solar empire is an amazing game, and it truelly is addicting and incredibly fun. To my second point, I have fallen in love with the TEC, and have found myself unable to play as the other races (i know i should...). My question is this: What techniques do you use as TEC? how do u usually tech up? What strats do you use with cap ships, reg units, and defenses? I would love to hear from all of you. Intense civel reaseach and frigate spamming during the first hour, then military research and capital pwnage during end game... for defense I usually have 6 hangers and two repair buildigns. Takes care of almost anything until you can move your fleet back home.

If you love capital ships, a force of 4 --- 2 Kol battleships and 2 of the ones that repair shields is a mean mean combo. The reason for 2 shield caps is that if they decide to attack one of the shield capitals, the other shield capital will just keep it in good shape.
