What is Kalamite?

I colonized a world (OK, took it) and when I explored it, I was told a deposit of Kalamite had been found. It didn't show up as an artifact. What is it?

There seem to be non artifact bonuses you can sometimes find on planets. I think they are just credit/mineral/crystal gifts, but the game is very vague on them and I could be wrong. Would be nice if there was a message in the unit window that popped up a big "+1000 crystal" or whatever to let us know what we won.

I don't remember particualry this one, but if I remember correctly, those aren't considered artifact but will give you a boost either in metal, crystal or money raissing for that colony.

If you mouse over the colony in question, the information is in the infocard.

yep, there are a bunch of em ive encountered, kalamite gives trade boost
others include:
agragarian society(increase to trade)
expert metal/crystal miners(increase to metal/crystal mining)
plus a bunch more i cant remember

basicly they are there to keep you exploring even if all 9 artifacts have been found and give some benefit to those not lucky enough to find one
there actually quite common, about 1 in 2 or 1 in 3 have one

Anyone know why there are two levels of explore? Is the first for artifacts and the second for these bonuses or something? Or is it just giving you two rolls to find something on the planet?

I believe planets are generated with bonus from the start and exploring them just reveals them. Some of them are horrible to get though, like Weapons Testing Facility and High Security Protocol on you dead end desert planet in Systems at War.  :NOTSURE:

Something I feel worth mentioning is that the non-artifact bonuses seem to be random. Either that, or stardock was very cruel, giving me expert metal on my only ice planet (no metal)  :SNIFF!:

Thanks for the info. I sometimes forget to check that info card! So intuitive, but I often forget. Just too much going on...
