Question on the graphics

My system meets all of the minimum requirements (and in quite a few cases, exceeds). The only thing I am worried about is my graphics card, which is a bit old. It has 128mb, but when things start getting into the area of vertex/pixel shader 2.0, my system can't do it.
So my question is this:
Does the card need to be able to run those kinds of things (like most new games), or can it work without that, like GC2?
Also, is there a demo anywere?
