I'm a huge fan of Stardock both as a dev and publisher, and in general, I love the concept of digital distribution. That being said, I still don't feel that anyone has really nailed the absolutely MOST important part of digital distribution and that is download speeds - plain and simple. They need to be fast REGARDLESS of heavy use or not. If they're not fast for everyone and at the time people want to use the service the most, i.e. with a new game release like this, then they have no advantage over buying a boxed copy (which has other advantages).

In general, Stardock has seemed pretty fast (to me) in the past, but then I have a 10meg internet connection so that definitely helps. At the very least, if someone has the high -speed internet connection yet still is suffering through really low data transfer rates, that just makes me more likely to never want to do the digital distribution thing.

Just my 2 cents. Doesn't mean I won't be getting Sins or the upcoming GalCiv 2 expansion!

Downloaded at about 4000K/sec on the work pipe earlier. Had no problems at all.

It's great if a majority of players are getting fast speeds. I just feel bad for the poor shmucks who aren't. Hopefully that's a very tiny number of people suffering with poor d/l speeds. I may get great d/l speeds but not everyone can and I can commiserate with those guys.

Thanks Star. Im kinda screwed by living out in the middle of nowhere. I dont feel like driving 50+ miles to get a game, and the fastest internt out here is horrible. So either way sucks.

im getting around 35KB a second, which is about normal for this "fastest" internet. Can you believe i play 58.99 a month for it too? Insane....

Anyways its 60% complete now. i started the DL at around 3:30pm. Here it is 8PM. At least this DL manager saves your spot, because id die of it cut out and had to start all over again.
