Video card question

Probably annoying, so sorry

I have a laptop with relatively good specs. I have a C2D CPU, 2GB of RAM, and an 8600M GT with half a gig DDR2 on it. It can run my favorite games like Company of Heroes and Team Fortress 2 at almost the highest settings. Lots of games, however, don't like my video card at all. STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl in particular just does not like my computer, and of course the Crysis demo didn't run well at all either.

So my question should be obvious: how should I expect Sins to run? I already plan on getting the game the first day it comes out, but given the fact that I'm running on Vista and that my card is basically a low-end DX10 card, will it run at good settings? Do any of you guys who played the beta have this card or any card like it?

Thanks in advance

  Wow I really am surprised at these kind of questions I havent even played this game yet but you should really do some research on your stuff 2 GB is more than enough a C2D in a laptop is about the best you could get and did you know a 8600M GT is problably the 3rd best laptop Video card.

If I have a 8600 GT for desktop and I can run crysis fine on medium settings with 2 gb ram and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ then your fine man dont worry anymore.

Well it runs lots of games really well but there are those few that just do NOT like it, especially on Vista, and even DX9 games.

I'm not asking whether the game will run, I'm wondering whether I will be able to push the graphics up significantly.

Well from my experience vista couldnt run but half the games I had at the time, but since drivers have evolved as well as updates for games/ windows I just havent gotten the chance to give it another try and theres people here with vista 32 bit and 64 bit that run this game flawlessly or so it seems but your specs are new and just make sure your drivers are up to date.

I doubt youll have any problems with it.

It'll run fine, highest graphics.
Sin's is not demanding at all, My CPU (Sole core @ 2.0GHZ~) while running Sins idles at 80%, I can have MSN, music, Opera (Internet) and video encoding in the background just fine.
My 8800GT doesn't raise temps at all (Idles at 51 Degrees C).
The most demanding thing about Sins is the Ram Usage, which for me sits at 1.4GB (I have 1.5GB) and not even 1.4GB is that bad, heck, I wish all games used 1.4GB ram (Unlike Crysis using 2GB)

Should indeed run quite nicely, but maybe your laptop is restricting power consumption a bit to agressively.

A friend of mine has a 8600 Mobile version too in his laptop and can run crysis perfectly fine on medium-to-high providing he runs it in Dx9 mode under vista. (Dx10 mode has aweful performance in comparison for minimal gain in looks)

When you're at home always run the laptop of its adapter, that should eliminate most of the power restrictions it will be under when running of the battery. (it tries to make the battery last as long as possible, throttling back the GPU is usually step 1 since it guzzles juice)
Doing that should already improve performance dramatically, You can also check what power-save profile its using and reduce it a little, or have it turn off when connected to the adapter (i think this is the best option).
Lowering the power-save will reduce your battery life, because the graphics card needs a great deal of power to run at full capacity, but its no problem if you're running on the adapter.

And if you search on the net, there are ways of shutting down the power-save function on a laptop complete, but don't count on using your battery for much more than an hour of gaming at a time. (providing you're running off a 9-cell one)
I can't recommend doing this last step, since that will potentially damage the power-cells by drawing far more power from them than they can handle safely.

Actually, I suspect it'll run fine on the default settings, but beta 4 folk have to remember that the final version has more robust graphics. ;)

I don't play when I'm not plugged in because I value being able to play for more than half an hour at a time. Thanks!

My Computer Has a AMD Athlon 64 3700+, 4GB of Ram, 7800GT 256MB. And can run Crysis on medium. How will i fair in Sins? Thanks in advance.

We've seen "Minimum" and "Recommended" specs. Do the latter assume maxed graphics settings? If not, any chance we can get a set of recommended specs for max graphics?

Sins should run on Medium... maybe High? depending on your resolution.

I upgraded my 7800gt to a 8800gt just for Sins <3 , oh and for Bioshock <3
