Observer Mode?

When you cycle on the game setup screen u go through open slot (for players to join), AI, then something that is friends? Or is it observer? I'm not sure. But if there is no observer mode, why not include it :/ I love watching games as much as playing them. And nothing is better than live action.

There's not going to be an observer mode on release, IIRC, but it has been brought up before, so we might see it down the road.

The closest thing to observer mode is when you are eliminated. This allows you to see everything and watch indefinately although you won't be able to chat. You could easily fake observor mode by agreeing with some friends beforehand to let the observors join the game and then each observer should abandon their homeworld. They will all be able to watch.

you should really include a real observer mode and get rid off this "not being able to chat" thing when u are dead.
This isnt an issue in other games so why should it be in Sins. Just make it so that ppl have to give vision to the oberservers so everyone can decide by himself how much he trusts the oberserver / dead player not to abuse the observer mode.
But its defiantly something that helps online play a lot. In Starcraft for exmpale a lot of ppl were online just to watch games and chat with each other while doing so.
Its simply a great way to ensure online activity.
The same is btw also true for the ability to watch replays online. Its not good to force players to offline mode just to watch replays.
I know that tose things wont be in the release version but its defiantly something u should consider to include in a later patch.
I cant stress often enough how important those things are to get decent online activity among players.

Thanks Linkes, you could very well be right. We'll see how the community feels once Sins is out and we'll look at what we can do to improve the experience based on all your feedback :)

True OB games in warcraft 3 only allow observers to chat to themselves. It is great time to watch a 1v1 game with a bunch of other people where we get to comment :)

On the FAQ page, under multiplayer, one of the FAQ's is - 'Is there an observer mode?'. The answer is 'Yes'.

Perhaps update that. I looked all over ICO for observer before coming to this thread. :-)
