Interplanetary Space

What I'm wondering is can i have my ships jump to (for example) the middle of nowhere? or the halfway point between planets? I ask because If I can then I could jump them to just outside the gravity and attack from several angels at once, witch could be a useful strategy, for those who aren't sure as to what EXACTLY I'm asking...

1.) can I jump ships anywhere? or just from planet to planet?
2.) can I jump them to a midway point (if #1 is no possible) on the paths between planets, or just outside of the gravity well of the planets?

Thank you for your answers

ships can only jump to gravity wells.

You should have clarified some gravity wells are around asteroid belts and junk, so yes, you can sometimes position a fleet in a jump point that sits between planets.

Otherwise no, you cant pick random coords to jump to.

remember that whatever side of the grav well you leave from is the side of the grav well youll arive at. if you want to attack from different angles have part of your fleet jump out to the right of the phase lane, and have the other part jump to the left of the phase lane. This is also good for cutting off an enimy retreat. If you see what thier angle of departure is you can have a bunch of ships waiting at the exact point they will jump in at.
