The Olympian Gods

Beware Their Wrath

Welcome mortal to Mount Olympus, home of the gods. I, Zeus, have allowed you to journey here to prove your worth and to see if you shall be allowed to join us in the control of the universe.

If you manage to show that you are worthy by achieving 25 victorious battles or 100,000 cumulative points than we have decreed that we will bestow upon you the Glorious Title of Senator.

Let all those that are in our presence tremble and despair. We threw down the mighty Titans and will Prevail in All our Doings.

Some Important Things to Know About This Empire

One doesn't need to be one of the Olympian gods, any character is fine!

This is an Open empire, so anyone can join. I will try to keep up with who is joining so I can send a friendly hello.

Hard work and perseverance pay off. I will award those that accomplish such tasks with a Senator position.

I think it is important and my duty to help new players and learn from veteran players. I promise that this empire is here for the player!

A Little About Your Emperor

SILVERBEACHER (Main Character: Zeus)

Born and raised in Michigan, Silverbeacher, or Silver as he is commonly called, is a college student at Purdue University in Indiana where he is majoring in Political Science and Pre-Law.

He first came into contact with the Galactic Civilization Universe in the summer of 2003, with the first game in the series. He found the game very enjoyable but never did partake in the original Metaverse. A few years later he came across the sequel, Dread Lords, at a local Best Buy, and began trying out the new and improved game.

At first, he never visited the website or the Metaverse, but one day, while seeking answers, he hopped onto the GalCiv2 website and the rest as they say is history.

Almost immediately interested in the Metaverse, he began looking for an empire to join, originally checking out both the Galactic Diplomats and the High Command Hegemony. It was in the threads of the HCH that he came across Neilo and MarshallONeil. Neilo had only recently left the HCH-which had become a very quiet remnant of its former glory-and had formed the Tyranny of Evil.

In the summer of 2007, Silver joined the Tyranny-or ToE as it is often referred to as. Meanwhile, Neilo, had also been appointed the "leader" of a new way of competing against other MV players, the Metaverse League. Silver originally sat out of the MVL, fearing that he was not a good enough player to compete alongside such game greats as MottiKhan and Mumblefratz, but eventually did decide to join in the middle of the third round, where he even managed to get a speed bonus point for his team.

Due to the rapid growth of the MVL, a new team was needed for Round 4, and Silver gladly submitted his name to be the new captain of this team. With this, Team E-or more properly, The Eternal Villainy-, was founded.

Silver had captained the Villainy for three rounds when Commissioner, and fellow Villainy teammate, Neilo, decided to step down from his position as Commissioner of the MVL. At the request of Neilo and others, Silver accepted the nomination to be the new Commissioner of the MVL. After a close, but friendly, election, Silver was named the new "Commish" and Round 7 of the MVL was his first round under his 'leadership'.

It was also at this time that Silver decided to form his own empire, which he named the Olympian Gods. For a while, Silver remained a member of both the ToE and the Olympian Gods but eventually, decided that he wanted to focus all his attention on the MVL and Olympian Gods and so said goodbye to his Tyranny brothers to venture out on his own.

And that is how we say, is that.

At the risk of regretting this later; I can say that I am the proud emperor of a MV Empire who's thread has not been cluttered with a bunch of nonsense.

Careful what you say Silver....you may be inadvertantly inviting it.  :NOTSURE:

I promise, I wont post too many cat pictures here.

And of course, it's great that you're (mostly) back Silver! :D

Are you back and keeping the OG going Silver? If you are I believe I owe you a character(the conversation was awhile back ;) ). I had hesitated moving Metaleaguer when you had said you might not be around much for a bit, but if your here and still pushing the OG I'll be over before long :) .

OK, now I'm just about ready to quit playing GCII! I've been playing a game for my Hades character for what feels like forever (actually it's been about 2 months) and now that I've gotten this far in the game, it's gone and screwed me over! I was at war with the Thalans (they HAD the biggest military until I tore them to shreds with my Tormenter Warships). I offered them a Peace Treaty for the one tech they had that I didn't, ALL their planets and BC's for all my techs (which didn't matter since they had no planets left) and like 5 upgraded Defenders. After they accepted I started going through all their planets and setting them up the way I wanted and got them building my ships. After doing about 30 planets I opened one up but it didn't have all MY buildings in it. I had all the buildings maxed out but instead of giving me the Discovery Sphere it only showed Basic Labs. It's the same with the Econ and Industry buildings too. It shows were I can build a Basic Factory or Manufacturing Plant (which is weird since they are both Industrial buildings) but none of the top level stuff. I tried reloading the game and it was still doing the samething. I then tried to start a new game with another race and the ONLY thing it shows that I can build is the Basic Lab and nothing else (not even the Starport). After beating the Thalans I now have control of about 90% of the Galaxy but there are still about 6 civs left (4 are completely within my area of control and flipping fast) but now I can't build my buildings on them to get a better score out of this game. I might ride it out another 10 turns and see if I can win an Influence Victory (should be simple since 3 civs are my allies and the other 3 would have to be completely suicidal to declare a war on me with my military being as strong as it is. I guess I should be glad that I don't play Mumble style games because if this happened to me on one of those and ruined my score I would probably throw my monitor out the window!!

AC. It sounds like you accidently hit the old improvements tab right above the improvements menu on the colony screen. Give that a check before giving up.

btw: Metaleaguer is now part of the OG. He should have enough points to push us past the Yuza..somethingerather to 11th :)

@AC: lol, if you were to look far enough back in the ToE thread (i believe) or even searched the forums enough, you'll find a lil post by me, stating that all my structures disappeared from my build list. in actuality, i did exactly what DA said, i hit the "Old Buildings" tab by accident one time.

just go back in and hit the New Structures tab, and you'll be all set

above all else, dont throw your monitor out the window

Well since i am yet to be convinced your not one and the same it doesn't matter. If it turns out you are indeed separate people then...it still doesn't matter...a flat penguin is a good penguin.

Your about as wanted in here as in the ToE thread guys.....its basically the same people, except Silver, the emperor over here has alot more patients with his penguin hitting stick than i do.....

Just keep from thread jacking the empire threads that your not involved in and everyone will get along fine...... :)

@Non-Empire members: While I am more than welcome to entertain newcomers to the Olympian Gods that seek out to learn more about our empire, or have discussion pertinent to Galactic Civilizations; I am unwilling to allow for the mundane conversations that seem to permeate throughout most other empires threads. In short, keep it either about the OG or about GalCiv, or take it elsewhere.

@OG Members: While I empathize with many of you and your enthusiasm for the OG. I kindly ask that you leave such matters to myself to handle, out of concern that situations may become unwieldy. I pride myself on the fact that the Olympian Gods have maintained a strict forum neutrality since its inception, and I would like to keep it that way.

Thank you to all,

Silverbeacher

Does every member of your empire have to play games with an alignment of good?

Does every member of your empire have to play games with an alignment of good?

The Olympian Gods maintains no such restrictions on players. My only requirement is that members maintain a certain level of decorum if representing the OG elsewhere on the GC site. While the OG does have some members that are part of another empire, and that those members sometimes take actions that I do not always agree with, so far, none of those actions have reflected poorly upon my empire. If that case were to happen, then I would remove (being Emperor I do have that power) that player from my empire.

The otherwise "main" goal of the OG is to support and promote a player's growing ability. That is why I grant Senator status to those who have 25 games or 100,000 cumulative points under any one character.

Almost done my Korath game, Tiny but GOOD. Not a huge score, but very fun to play.
I believe my largest problem is I am not aggresive enough at the start of the game. But maybe, just maybe this game may put us in the top ten.

Well, I was able to finish my game up (thanks for letting me know about the "Old Improvements" tab guys), but when I submitted it to the Metaverse it posted under my ToE character (Tormented) and not my OG character (Hades). Oh well, my score pretty muched sucked on it anyway. I was able to conquer about 3 empires without ever going to war with them though. I just offered them all my techs plus around 10 to 15 upgraded Defenders for any techs they had that I didn't, all their ships (at least the ones that were available on the trade screen), all their BC AND all their planets. The best thing was that I got most of my Defenders back when the ships joined up with the remaining empires. The tech trading is definitely messed up, since it would go from green to red if I offered TOO MANY ships. I may try to play it out a little more and get a military victory instead of an influence victory, but I'm not sure. I've already started a few more games and I'm not sure if I'll get back to this one or not. Plus like I said my score sucked, and we all know that you just can't polish a turd.
