Foundation modd

Foundation modd

it might just be me but,Sins of a Solar Empire seems like the perfect game to make a modd based of the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov.

3 see my last reply about trantor and the foundation

You mean the unreadable, multi line punctuationless kludge? I tried. It doesn't seem to make much sense.

sorry

what i ment was trantor and the foundation would be places were players could buy technology and stuff. also players would be able to trade with the foundation as a major part of there economy.

Well one can easily take a lot of liberties with creating a game world with regards to all the aspects entailed within Sins. That is the entire point of the creative process. Use what existing background material that is considered germane and create the rest as needed based on the game engines functionality and within the cannons of the published lore.

this is a very good idea and it is exactly what i meant by the following, for those who could not make sense of it

the lack of detailed desriptipons meens that the genaric descriptions can be manipulated however they need to be

There is really little data in the books about actually space combat ships, not to mention what they look like.

Plus there are quite a few factions to account for.

The series isn't about space battles, or the technology, its about the people -- and thats almost all thats in it! How many ships can you describe, and their abilities relative to each other?

first there is a lot about the technology, Isaac Asimov was a scientist first, writer secound

2 there are descriptions of the technology used on ships

just have a few generic fractions like Imperial Province and Independent Kingdom

Yes, but no ship descriptions. Size, collor, use? Nothing, or next to nothing.

Ya know, if you actually read his preface for one of the books, he himself commented on the fact that the story lacked any kind of "action" -- and that included ship descriptions. Yes, he mentioned (in passing) some of the technology, but not the ships themselves.

Your looking at the kind of area were the definition are too broad, its going to be difficult to do this not because you have to follow the rules, but because you have practically no rules to follow.

Edit: To clarify, I'm not saying this is impossible -- only that its so improbable that the project will take off as to [i]be[i] impossible. There is a distinction, even if I'm too tired to find the words to express it properly.
