Network+!

Well, as of a couple hours ago, I have one more certification under my belt as I continue working towards a BBA in CIS. Last year, I earned my A+ certificate, but I hadn't had the money to continue on. Well, I had one opportunity to take my Network+ at no charge earlier in the week. It was a very hectic week at work, and I went in Wednesday with less than 24 hours' preparation for the time.

I failed, but I was close enough that I knew I had to retest and soon.

So I scheduled a test for today, the last day the school was open before the holidays, and spent the intervening time making sure I knew protocols for Novell (which were NOT well covered in our class, but were well covered in my first exam). This test started off much better as I didn't even need to think about the first three or four questions. I passed this time around.

This makes leaving my current job somewhat bittersweet. I love the job, but I'm finding myself growing past the help desk in a company that doesn't have room for that growth. Yes, at my new job I'll be starting at the helpdesk, but somehow I'm doubting I will be there much longer than I absolutely need to be.

Yet another reason to pass along congratulations!  Excellent work (on the certifications).  Now go out there and find yourself new work that pays better   (hey, someone had to say it!)

Congrats, Gideon.

While I haven't taken the Network+ test, I can definitely certify that the Novell stuff is hard after having done all the CNE tests ... 6 in all if I remember correctly.

Novell us to be the Cat's meow.  I got my first cert in it (Cne 3.x).  Sadly the MS Marketing Machine - and bad business decisions on their part - has all but killed them.  Still, of the majors in networking, they had the best protocol suite (of course IP wins due to wide spread usage).
