Shield mitigation

So.

I did:

-Minimum shield mitigation increased from 20% to 30%
-Maximum shield mitigation increased from 60% to 80%
-Mitigation gain rate increased from .001 to .0015
-Mitigation decay rate decreased from .0125 to .01

and it was amazing the impact it had on the game. Fights lasted longer (well, they would have, but my slightly too modded Gauss Blast was the hammer of lucifer so far as frigates were concerned.)

But the most interesting thing happened when two Kols went at it. Any attack heavy enough to threaten a Kol rapidly jumped shield mitigation to 80% and they just lasted much longer than i expected, even a slightly nuts fight that me and a marauder fleet attacking a planet at the same time.

The downside was that having an effective 10000 shield points or so (consider regen) means your 4000 hull points go rather fast.

It does need tweaking, but wow thats over kill...

Hehe for fun, mod the Gauss cannons to be one shot killers, talk about defense! Also make them cost 10x as much else the enemy will spam the hell out of them.

In my mod Gauss Cannon one-shot frigates, but the rate of fire on the cannon is slowed down significantly. (Capships take around 4 shots.) They cost 4x as much, which seems to be not too bad. They still die rapidly to frigate swarms, but any single target usually dies before getting into range.

I think shield mitigation as it is now is pretty good just could use a little tweaking, but nothing so drastic.

Before the update I had the gauss platforms beefed up 40% and extended the range 15% and ship shields pumped 25% and the battles were really very good and lasted a reasonable enough time to give me that old "wow that was an impressive conflict" feeling.

If I were a Halo modder, I would make the gauss cannon into the giant railguns of the Earth Defence Grid.

if that mod ever comes out, tell me.

I'm thinking of making a mod where I drastically decrease the strength and defence of all frigates, drastically increase the power and defense of the capital ships and the gauss cannons, and raise and lower the prices accordingly. hopefully that will make for some really epic battle scenes

If I remember correctly it was less then two hours and I was not in a hurry.

Oh yeah, ship structures where enhanced 10% to boot.
