I think I'll take you up on your invitation, with the caveat that we have very different opinions about my playing skills. For now though, it's end-of-semester crunch time, then a month off before 5 weeks (maybe longer) in Japan. In other words, I'm not likely to be able to contribute much. Feel free to boot me out of the empire if I'm not doing my share.

My goodness! My little Cakewalk first game (cultural victory by accident, was trying for tech and to monopolize resources) registered there! I thought for sure there would be dozens of empires to dwarf my little Dixie Wanderers! Vae Victus!

I'm trying to decide between joining an existing empire and starting my own... No rush, I guess. Plenty more games to be played!

Makes me curious as to what would/should happen when an empire gets big enough that it overlaps another.

Which brings to mind the following thought. Can the computer play just other computers? I'm not talking about for retail versions etc. It just occured that with the Metaverse and the AI being able to use tactics from submitted games, what would happen if an AI using tactics from one metaverse score were used against another? Sort of a multiplayer by proxy.

Maybe it's just me but I always enjoyed matching up one chess program against another.

How are you going to deal with the color schemes? With so many different empires, won't it be hard to have colors where you can tell the difference between them?

What I did was pick about 15 different colors that are easy to distinguish between, then, when a new empire enters the top 10 (we'll only be displaying the leading empires) it randomly picks one of the remaining 15 color not being used. Also, the final version will let you click on a sector and see who it belongs to, what their score is, ect. - so it'll be easier to see what sectors belong to whom.

Very nice work. Presumed to be done with an ASP script witha sfw creation string or anything? Or is it with Flash's internal functions?

The Metaverse ranks players which register but what are these empires is there any point to them ?

Empires appear to be a "clan" type system for the metaverse. On the left hand side of the metaverse page you should see a "Top Empire" button. It ranks the various Empires. Clicking on the empire shows you all the members and scores for that empire. Or you can just go to the following:

My empire would have a much better showing if metaverse registered my scores The only one that took was one where I quit on the first turn.

Yes I believe it just might be true. Considering we are moving up so quickly. Next we will conquer the world!!!

Does this explain why "Top Civs" in the Metaverse seems to be down?

Hey, Brad, that's cool - in fact the whole Metaverse thing looks like a great idea and is going to be alot of fun. But I don't see all the empire here - especially the one I'm in?
