Memorial Day - 2007

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May (observed this year on 2007-05-28). It was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country. It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it expanded to include those who died in any war or military action. One of the longest standing traditions is the running of the Indianapolis 500, which has been held in conjunction with Memorial Day since 1911. (wikipedia.com)

Anyone doing anything special? At home we have the family over and cook on the grill and play horseshoes , beanbags and badminton in the yard.

Sadly Ironclad Staff has off... They should be forced to work on holidays...

In Denmark, the solstitial celebration is called Sankt Hans aften ("St. John's Eve"). It was an official holiday until 1770, and in accordance with the Danish tradition of celebrating a holiday on the evening before the actual day, it takes place on the evening of 23 June. It is the day where the mediaeval wise men and women (the doctors of that time) would gather special herbs that they needed for the rest of the year to cure people.

It has been celebrated since the times of the Vikings and of Odin and Thor, by visiting healing water sources and making a large bonfire to ward away evil spirits. Today the water source tradition is gone. Bonfires on the beach, speeches, picnics and songs are traditional, although bonfires are built in many other places where beaches may not be close by (i.e. on the shores of lakes and other waterways, parks, etc.). In the 1920s a tradition of putting a witch made of straw and cloth on the bonfire emerged as a remembrance of the church's witchburnings from 1540 to 1693 (but unofficially a witch was lynched as late as 1897). This burning sends the witch to Bloksbjerg, the mountain 'Brocken' in the Harz region of Germany where the great witch gathering was thought to be held on this day.

Holger Drachmann and P.E. Lange-Müller wrote a beautiful midsommervise (Midsummer hymn) in 1885 called "Vi elsker vort land..." ("We Love Our Land") that is sung at every bonfire on this evening.

But today we use a doll (there still alot of the witches, around that needs to be burned ) with fireworks called heksehyl in danish, which is translateded to witch-scream..

It isnt, sure you make grammatical errors once in a while but they are logical errors based on the fact that your brain has to translate things first through your language's grammatcial structure.

And then on the other hand we have people like Xavior running arround saying that English is their native born language, really makes you wonder.

Now that you point out that you're danish (Demarkian, lol GEORGE BUSH) I find spelling errors, but I didn't before.... (that last one just doesn't make sense, is the"i" supposed to be in? That would be just a weird typo if it was).

Not only did I not know that you were a Dane, I keep thinking that you're female because of your icon (I know that your male though. Your icon was some lady in Nexus who had lived with the ghosts or whatever and could cloak the Angelwing).

yeah it was "in" not "i" typos got lots of those
the word "imbaricing" was meant as "embarrassing" haha, well i did google it, but if not most of the word is correct, it cant help.
and "isent" should be "isnt"

(Demarkian, lol GEORGE BUSH)

Haha, does he say that?

The name comes from Diablo 2, and i choose the amazon warrior. Then i just needed a female name for the character. So the name Multianna just popup in my head, as i loved the (forgot the name of the skill) multi arrow skill you got at lvl 24.
Then i wanted a unique name on the internet. I did search many search engines to see if anyone else used it, and i didnt find any. Until a year after 2003 i think, and it was on some chinese site.
Thought about another name, but hey, kinda dont care if ppl think im female
BUT at times it CAN be very disturbing... like in supcom beta, some guy PM me and said nasty sexual things o_O
Most of the time ppl dont seem to care, but some gets confused, if im male or female. Hehe kinda funny screwing around with ppl's heads

it is a sad day indeed when a man finds sexual gratification in a video game...

Multianna where in Denmark are you from? I am from Norway, The southern part of Norway.
(You are lucky to live in Denmark, You can buy beer from Texaco.)As you most likely know we have much more stricter polices on alcohol) In about to weeks time i and my friends will go to Denmark on a drinking trip. Hehe. I know it`s off topic. But i thought i was the only one from Scandinavia here.

Im from Nordjylland, near Aalborg, about 40km west from there.
Løgstør is where i live

Haha Texaco, for a box of beer, you pay about 200kr for Tuborg haha. If you go to the supermarket, you can get it for half.

Haha, does he say that?

Yeah, he said that once. I think he's...well, let me out it this way: I'm glad his second term is almost up.

I looked up "george bush denmarkians" on goolge to find the actual quote, and when I hit the image button I got a picture of one of the "Bloom County" books (the penguin's name is Opus).

What does kr stand for? I was trying to use google to convert it to US dollars...but it didn't work.
kr = kroner or danish kroner
So 200kr is 36 US dollars.
yep thats for a box of beer. Which have 24 beers in it.
Or 18 US dollars if you buy it in a supermarket.
But about half the money you get back, when you return the box and the empty bottles.

o_O ? Do they recycle that stuff....America is not that big on recycling, espically where I am (nobody does it. My family recycles plasitc bottles and pizza boxes, thats about it). And as far a beer is conserned, there is a brewry (Spelling, thats right, I can't spell in my native language) a little ways away, like 5 or 10 minutes (its a Budwiser one).

A normal beer is 33 centiliter thats 0,33liter.
1 liter = 0.264172051 US gallons
1kr = 0,18 US dollars

We get lots of money for returning used bottles like:

0,33L 1,5kr
0,50L 2,0kr
1,50L 3,0kr
2,00L 3,0kr

A year ago they used to be alot higher, like for 1,5L bottle, you got 5kr

So as you can see, it can give alot of money back, if you store them away for some time.

Even young kids, are going out, collection beer bottles, after some big partys, where ppl dont care about them, as they are drunk

everyone in my town recycles. its not like you get payed government allocades for doing it (5 cents a can/bottle/glass) but those who dont do their own usually hand it off to someone else.

0,50L 2,0kr
1,50L 3,0kr
2,00L 3,0kr

not exactly a linear relation...
lets see
27 c v 5 c
36 c v 8 c
52 c v 25 c
52 c v 33 c
I still prefer the american prices, as they're much lower...
btw; hunt down those 6 ouncers! they bring you a nicer return rate.
