Right Click Wish List

Right Click Wish List

Can it be done

Looking to start a RC "Wish List" since it's my most valuable piece of software.

Wish #1 - For Multi-Monitor situations, I'd like to see the ability to set a program to open on the display clicked. I know that there are vendor & 3rd party programs that include this but it's usually bundled with a lot of stuff I don't use.

That's a start. I know there are others who value this program as much as I do, so add your own items. I'll add one here and there to keep the thread semi-active.

I have yet to use Right Click believe it or not. Here's a suggestion...don't hit me please...I'm left handed. How about a 'Left Click'.........ducking now.

Seriously now...first time reading this thread and now thinking that maybe I'm missing out on something. I'm gonna give it go and see how many times I can crash it because I have no clue as to what I'm doin'.

ok I just double checked this and although I can use the .tga file, it isn't transparent, the area that should be transparent is white, sorry about that guys, I guess my meds must be wearing off or something,

- and I thought I had made a new discovery or something,
look at me I'm Christopher Columbus and hey there's North America over there!

The group may give me a collective beating at any time now, sorry for the confusion I've cause folks!

.... Take it easy on me - I bruise easily.

No beating..I had hoped you found a secret we all didn't know about.
Oh well...maybe next build will support transparency..

Agree

is anyone else using skinstudio to work on their rightclick skins?

I'm gonna have to try that on my next skin. Mine are pretty plain compared with Quentin & Fairyy~'s but now you've inspired me so I'll have to take a crack at it.

Unclerob, that GL skin's looking sharp

I make the initial RC using the Skin Tool that comes with RightClick program...buzzh58 showed me how to edit the ini pad in SKS after you make the basic RC... SKS is where you can make the images so they tile correctly, etc. Its just easier this way.

I've used notepad to edit the .obskin and it's been trial and error figuring out what everything does. I'm going to try it your way soon.

Thats basically how I stumbled through it..spending hours changing each number in each line..I still can't remember what changes what unless I just go through it all again.
Just changing the font alters all the margins again. Its not as easy as it looks huh.
But, the Skin Tool gets you started and its still a nice way to generate simple menus.

I don't use really SKS to make my RC, i use the RC tool for the base Margins, font, colors but for all others things object edit (notepad in better )
with the RC open and then when i make a change in the .ini i save and apply and see how that run.
Same for Object Bar, set only the background and pictures i use in SKS but the rest i make it like that.

using sks was an accident, I was attempting to open the obskin file with another type of text editor and clicked on skinstudio by accident, when I noticed that skinstudio broke down all the sections of the right click and allowed me to view the bkgrnd image and adjust the margins, select tile or stretch, transparency    and then actually stretch the image to see how it looked at different sizes. And then being able to adjust font sizes & colors and also edit the code in the obskin file directly using sks, I was hooked. I would make changes in sks, hit save and then test my rightclick with no delay in the application.

I would like to see an option added to skinstudio, just like it allows you to start a windowblinds or windowsmedia player skin from scratch, I want the same option added for rightclicks, something like "click here to create a rightclick skin" and it would come up with a default skin (maybe looking like luna blue, similar to starting a wb from scratch)

Lantec I forgot to mention in my post above, thanks for the compliment on my gl rc skin, I appreciate it!!!

Thats exactly what I was saying to lantec. If you add a picture/graphic etc ...SKS is the best way to edit the background. The rest, just open up the ini and twiddle away.

And added feature to SKS ( Re uncle robs comment above) to just ' start from scratch' on WB , RC etc would be nice..

My RightClick wishlist...

- Work for more than the desktop. In other words, allow for custom context menus on folder backgrounds, title bars, and custom context menus for different file types.

- Allow tabs on the menu, to choose from pages of menus.

- Custom Hot keys, and disable the first letter selection. Example: On my menu I have "Programs", "Paste" and "Print". Let me use "r" for programs, "a" for paste and "t" for print. When I press "p", nothing should happen.

- Default and optional actions. Example: I have "New Item ..." on my menu. If I click this, it creates a new empty text file. If I hover my mouse over it (or click on the "...") a sub menu opens and I can choose "New Text file", "New Word file", "New Access file", etc.

I'm new to Right Click, having only made one so far but feel hampered by the bmp restriction. It would be great to have the use of png's. Also, when highlighting, say, a folder that brings up another background section, it would be cool to be able to use a different background instead of the main one. Is that already possible, and if so, please tell me how. Overall, I really like this program and hope to start developing some more.

messiah, yes it is possible, RC uses the same codebase as OB hence the RC skin files being .obskin. I have copied OB skins into the RC skin directory and gotten submenus with different skins from the main menu. Animations are also possible.

Now that I hear people are editing .obskin files in SKS, this might be easier to figure out. I know it has something to do with Section Styles.

To all of you skinning RC find an OB skin that has similar things to what you want to do with RC, open it in SKS and study it.

To be honest I've known these things were possible for months now, but I was gonna try and figure it out when I had time and release Heavy Equipment RightClick as the first with with different backgrounds on the main and submenus. I haven't had a lot of time to work on skinning though. Seeing this thread and all the new interest in skinning RC, I felt I had to let all of you know. Maybe I'll work on it some tomorrow...

Correction: There's a line in the code called Companion"Something" which points to another .obskin , that's how you use seperate backgrounds.
