I'm not, by far, the biggest Star Wars fan, but i'm eagarly awaiting too. Eville's work on the Homeworld 2 mods was top notch, so i can't wait to see what he can do with Sins.

That really sucks. I hope you figure it out. And I don't think that the 1.11 patch will affect anything. I've seen other posts that say it doesn't affect any mods. All it did was fix one thing, so it shouldn't do anything, so you shouldn't have to worry about that.
1.11 was a hotfix for a resource exploit (according to front page), so if you have altered resourcing it could have an effect. Also, there is a 1.12 patch coming soon, that is supposed to fix the mp desync bug.

this will be repeated in the release notes in the new thread, but gives you some guidlines on what bugs to reportand which are already known.
most of the mesh/texture bugs I wanted to squash have been
ships in red on the ship list are not in this version.
the ships that will have broken textures are the following(on the ship list these are pink or yellow) ships with light green need work
Republic
consular, invincible
CIS
malevolence, geonosian dreadnaught, adv trafed destroyer, trafed carrier
Alliance
liberator, cc-9600
the acclmator II, cc-2200 and victory II will share the meshes with their other variants, but will have different stats
as part of the fix to the fighter issue all of the fighters have been replaced with the default fighters from the stock game, sorry no xwings and tie fighters this release, I am still trying to squash the bug.
ships tend to clump together I can't figure out how to change thier formation spacing
alot of ships may have engine and weapon points that are not in the right spot, this will be fixed in future versions.
very few ships have shield meshes, this will be fixed in the future
very few ships have proper glow textures, smoothing or normals this will be fixed as it can be addressed.
abilities are temporary almost all of them will get changed to new versions
research is completely worthless in most cases. (other than ship cap and support cap)

depending on what time zone you are in I will at least upload something (stupid fighter bug) there is a lot of benefit to the delay though a lot of issues have gotten ironed out. though I haven't sat down and played a game (just been testing for 5-10 minutes at a time) so I don't know how stuff works out and I still haven't been able to get the AI to play without minidumping on the fighters without putting the fighter count to zero on every ship (trying to find some fix for that right now)
fighter bug squashed enough to make a release, no SW fighters for now, but at least they work now. check for a new thread shortly

well im not a modder but i know what needs to be in them to make them good.
add in new types of planets maybe, like black holes (uncolonizable obviously).
not sure if possible, but maybe ramming ships? (set up a weapon that surrounds a ship with such short range it only covers the hull, and recoil effects)
by the way, why does everybody bash on EaW? its a good game basically the same as soase just more basic. EaW beats soase in ground combat obviously so they cant make extreme detail on space
