I figured since it is inevitable, I will start a thread to get ideas out on a star wars mod. Who will the sides be? What will the map look like? Units? Tech? etc.

THIS IS IDEAS FOR THE MOD PEOPLE!!! I would suggest that you either use the Clone ships and CIS ships, OR you could make it later in the movies. Like the Rebles and Clones... that would be fine IF the freaking rebles didnt steal clone ships all the time. So i would suggest Clone/CIS war... and as far as a map goes why not use Galaxy Forge... it works great, and you could just upload the map into the mod... i did the same thing many times on Sims 2

I don't want to speak for EvilleJedi, because he is in charge of this mod, but I belive that he said a while back that the Republic and CIS will eventually be incorporated into the mod, but he wants to finish the Empire/Rebels first. At least, I'm pretty sure he said that, so I apologize if I'm wrong.

one of the things I am focusing most of my attention on right now is a modular export script (basically many of the ship options are the same like weapons, only the damage changes, but changes need to be repeated across all ships when the effects change for instance) which once built will make any updates that don't need model changes a one click job and adding new ships as easy as rigging and tweaking some values in the master spreadsheet.

don't want to speak for EvilleJedi, because he is in charge of this mod, but I belive that he said a while back that the Republic and CIS will eventually be incorporated into the mod, but he wants to finish the Empire/Rebels first. At least, I'm pretty sure he said that, so I apologize if I'm wrong.

Did he? I guess I read it wrong. But why have both the CIS/Clones AND the Reble/Empire? I'm no moding expert, and most the stuff of mine were small, but helpful. I have never made anything on a scale like he's talking about. The most I had ever done with Halo 2 was change the apperence of Master Cheif into a lady wereing a bikin, a gnome (it was hard to adjust his hight), a covnent, and the chick from metroid prime... whats her name againe? But anywho, I guess i missunderstood his Fourm at first. Didn't mean to do that (then againe who dose?), so sorry. <=^0

Well, why make it into two different mods? Plus, then you can have factions from two different eras fight each other. I, personally would like to find out what happens when the rebels fight the Republic.

Yeah, I get that, too. I belive that he posted on the site a couple days ago that he was switching servers or something like that, and that it may affect the website. Of course, I can't check that to confirm it, but if I remember correctly, that is what he said.

I was just able to get to his site again. Here is EvilleJedi's most recent post:

"we are doing some maintenance to the main server, so things may be intermittent, I will be locking the forums so we don’t lose anything and so the backup goes nicely, when we come back up I will be updating a lot of the software to supposedly better versions. This won’t impact the mod for Sins or HW2 at all other than availability of news and downloads."

As a side note, I never get tired of looking at his models there such works of art. I mean the attention to detail is rally amazing. In fact I cant think any “official” game that even come close to there quality

Oh yeah, those models are awesome! I just hope that they're not "too awesome." If a ship is too detailed, Sins doesn't like it and can slow down a lot. But seriously, those models are amazing.

Ah, Thrawn2787... It is a picture of me on my Throne. (See below, that’s me!!) I don’t know if you remember or not 2787 but several months ago little tiff about who was the “real” Thrawn and well I just wanted you to know that I still think that you’re the clone…I mean come on 2787 is jest your serial number… any how good to see you again.

To Kyogre12 I don’t think they are. I know that Evillajedi set the quality of the models to be lower when you were roomed out and higher when closer in his H.W.2 mod  I assume that he will do some thing that again with this one

okay a little update

I got the XSI exporter to export tangent maps correctly without crashing, so the ships should look better (they will still need some corrections, but that is out of scope for the next version) the main advantage of this is that the ships shouldn't be completely bright or way too dark (and round parts will look better on ships like the mon cals)

 

second big announcement is that I am almost finished debugging my exporter (only frigates and planet modules left) so that means updating the entire set of data can be done with a single button press once I have set the values in the spreadsheet (seperate tabs for frigates, capitals, planet modules and fighters) this will greatly reduce the time and effort needed to adjust ship stats and weapons.

 

I am still in desperate need of someone that can make the abilities for the ships (if I don't get someone to do it then they will be left out of the next version)

 

if all goes well I expect to have some very good news this weekend about progress towards another release

I can't garentee anything, but if you really need me to, I'm willing to give it a shot. I don't have a whole lot a free time, between school, trying to learn how to texture for Danman, and playtesting the "D" version of his mod, but if I can help you out, I will. What kind of abilities do you have in mind?

I still have the first release in which only Empire is playable, has there been a new release meanwhile which has the Rebels as a playable faction as well?

I don't know....i kinda like the fact that my ISS II's have snipers manning cannons with a sizable fraction of the firepower of the Death Star ^_^

Not to mention watching them go so fast that, when turning, they tend to drift (I made a couple of Victory Class SS drift-race around my home planet by pausing and setting up a long waypont road around the planet).

I have to admit though, DANMAN's upgrade for this mod that he included in his wasn't too bad.  But I have to ask this:

Is the ISS Class I really necessary? i mean, a little bit of patience can get you a Class II no problem. Also, Will the Empire retain the Corellian Corvette and Gunship? I'm a fan of Star Wars, but I'm not aware of every single ship. In fact, I wonder...could Home One have a special ability to summon....maybe....and I know I'm going to get yelled at for sugesting this, but.....maybe summon the Millenium Falcon or Red Squadron? Also, would it be possibl to make the little ships that colonize planets (The ones that emerge from whatever ship gets close to a planet and activates 'Colonize') into Transport ships (Rebels) or Imperial Shuttles (Empire)?
