a question on movement

a question on movement

i've been wondering about the ship movement

is it going to be like sots totally in which they all have diffrent movement (loved the human ships but movement was rubbish!) is there going to be slight variations or are they all going to use the same

oh yes you guys better give us unlucky ones here lots of cool screenies!

it is now offical : being a 15 year old gamer - rubbish

that could have been forged...

It might be the case. I think the Vasari may be messing with our minds.

I've always thought of them more as Sith than magical elves... but that could just be because I am a serious Star Wars nerd.

serious Star Wars nerd.

Hah, join the club.

I see them more as Sith me-self. I am also in the club. Sometimes how much crap I know about Star Wars scares me.

I want space elves!

Space elves, I think that is an oxymoron. Elves live in forests, talk to animals and prance around. They may employ magic and bows and arrows for but I don't see them at the helm of an interstellar battlecruiser.

Ever heard of the Eldar?

Wow! Just drifted slightly off topic.....

Back to the topic:
In space, there is no top speed (due to the fact there is no air resistance to produce drag). You can continue to accelerate for years to a speed a fraction bellow the speed of light (if you have enough fuel). The only problem is that, at thoses speeds, a dust particle could do more damage than a missle on a Robin Relient   .

However, I don't think that SOASE will be that realistic.
Pity .....

it couldn't be that realistic. besides, if you're ships accelerated at a 1g speed (its the only real option, unless you want to kill the crew), they might eventually start to go fast enough, but you'll be long dead.

Lets just pretend for a second that the Sins universe wont be filled with ultra charged particles or even ions, and that all atoms are losely built.
then everything would rapidly dissintegrate.
I think you mean "lets assume SoaSE doesn't follow the laws of our universe" which is fine by me.
Either way, wed still disintegrate.

Cause it wouldnt be our universe.

drat, they are kind of elvish arent they. My arguments have been demolished.

Also, don't forget that if it takes you a year to accelerate to your target speed it will take you a year to slow back down to your original speed again.

Someone forgot about their space brakes....
If the space breaks could decelerate me faster than the main engine then I'd turn the thing backwards and ride the breaks like my grandma

Nicely stated, I am sure there will be break system to slow down the ship faster.

Once again it doesnt have to be compeletly realistic, Ill be happy with it just being balanced and still unique.

like what? you have no rotational standardized friction-based reference frame to "decelerate" to.

aka, you cannot "decelerate" in space, you can only accelerate in the opposite direction, so unless you mean emergency engines to slow you down at a greater than 1g speed (can't really go over a sustained 3g speed...) then no, you cannot "brake" in space. although surely this won't be the case in game (although I would like to see it tested in the beta, if only for a small amount of time to see if it works)

Again, its a game, I am just stating the obvious.

I dont think they will force our ships to slow down for minutes and minutes.
