Oh yeah! I noticed an animation glitch in base level star base for the blue nice guys. It is missing it's last frame, so it 'hops'. Very noticable when next to one of their bases they've moduled up by one level.

I took a constructor and right clicked on a frieghter pod. The pod didn't move from then on, I assumed it was just a graphical glitch. I then built a starbase atop the pod, and upgraded it. However, whenever i tried to target the starbase, I would get the pod's manifest in that little window at the bottom of the screen, instead of the starbase window.

Heh... just found one. Try leasing a corvette (or probably other ship), without closing the window click on a constructor, lease it also - next turn you get both ships. Sounds like a quick way go broke. :)

I don't know if someone already posted these, but better once too many than not at all.

1) I was on the road to a cultural victory. I had 14 out of 16 sectors conquered, but the game gave no 'winning message'. Then, the victory-progress in the options window said that I was 12 months from cultural victory. The next turn, I got a screen saying I have to hold my sectors for two more years to win.

2) Somewhat later, before I won, I had all sectors dominated by my culture, and I saved the game. I was then about 4 months from victory. When I loaded the game however, the two remaining sectors with major civs in them, turned to those civs, and I hadn't even started the two years for victory.

3) When I load a game, I get a progress report, saying I am behind in tech, while I was extremely advanced compared to the rest of the civs.

4) Sometimes when I press the 'next turn' button, only the graphs change, but my autopilot-ships do nothing, and also the date doesn't advance. When I press the button again, the things that hadn't happened, now happen, and thos that happened already, do.

5) I don't know if this is a bug, but my playlist doesn't work. I had WinAmp3 export my usual playlist in three different formats: b4s, m3u and pls, but none of them would load. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

6) When I finished my first game, I got no prompt asking me to upload my score etc. to the Metaverse. Is there a condition to do this?

7) When there is a big body of text, there is a scrollbar besides, but this is invariably set at the bottom, while the text is at the top. This results in very awkward scrolling.

I'm not sure if this is appropriate for here or a tech support section, but here goes...

The sound is wonderful on my system except when I go to the diplomacy screens. Their wonderful music background is interrupted, are regular intervals, by a static or pause that lasts a second and then the music returns, and the cycle repeats...

I have seen some text cut-offs in the technology section. The text continues "past" the bottom of the window, but I can't seem to scroll down...

Pretty good game, getting the hang of it I think.

Bugs I've found:

1. If you disband a ship or a starbase, you still pay maintenance on it.

2. There seems to be some bug where if your empire gets really large the economy just falls apart. I have no idea why. (Signed integer overflow problem perhaps?) (Note, I could've won before this happened by accepting a peace treaty.)

3. In spite of running production DX9, the game does crash to the desktop from time to time. [WinXP SP1]

4. Sometimes the "X" disband button on the bottom bar doesn't work. I haven't quite determined when it works and when it doesn't.

5. If you double click on a ship/starbase and it brings up the big detail screen - some of the text on the top right is cut off in some situations.

6. Not a bug but it would be neat if 'enter' would close screens with just the 'done' button ;)

New bug: I had 2 battle axes fleeted together. I accidentally ran over a 'tiny' freighter. Got the notice that freighters are safe from attack due to UN law. The bug: When I clicked the done button, the window stayed. ***As that is a modal window, and no other way to dismiss it, this is a game killer.*** Works fine when lone ship, but goes into endless loop when fleeted.

Typo: Empire Settings (at start of game) -> Modify abilities -> Speed. Effect described as "+n parcecs", should probably be "parsecs"

The GFX part is weird, there is no such file as Foreign_Image429etc. on my computer. There ARE some, but it stops at # 16.

I have 100% cultural domination, but the countdown clock is stuck at 12 months. Bug or feature?

I can't suggest treaties in diplomacy besides "Attack" or when I'm at war "Peace Treaty". Do I have to research something? I have researched "Alliances".

when the generic build queue gets really large prioritise does not seem to work as it should. also, when you prioritise, the long list updates and puts you at the top of the list agian, should leave you where you were in the list :notsure:

When I have automatic turn advancement disabled, my ships with orders (autopilot, sector sweep) don't always move when I click the Turn button. Other things update, like time until next tech, and if I go into the ship list and double click on each ship they'll move. They just sometimes don't move automatically when the turn starts.

ddhelp error

In the middle of a game, the game crashed, exited and dumped my into windows with this error:

"Ddhelp caused an error in . Ddhelp will now close.:

Windows seemed ok, though.

I haven't been able to read through this entire thread, considering how long it is. Perhaps a bug report forum would make things easier...

1) I don't see any graphics for my terror stars. My terror stars are invisible, which makes it only possible to select them through the ships display. And considering they don't change names, I often have to cycle through all of my star bases, unless the terror stars are moving. Also, not a bug, but the lack of graphics when they destroy a planet is a little anticlimactic. It'd be nice if a separate screen came up telling you the planet would be destroyed and asking if you were sure. And then a nice explosion movie wouldn't hurt. 8)

2) In the Social Governor screen, after you have added over 20 items to the build queue, the list will begin to scroll. However, if you click on the Nth item from the top, you will remove the Nth item in the list. For example: if you have 25 items in your build queue, and you have the list scrolled down so that #6 is the top item in the list, clicking on #24 will actually remove #19 from the list, because #24 is the 19th item down from the top. Looks like the person who coded the removal of items from the list forgot that you can scroll the list.

I haven't read all the bugs, but here are ones I've found.

1. Trade goods disappear when traded.
2. Completed trade good projects are still built by the AI after they've been built once.
3. Using the FIND button unsentries ships.
4. The FIND button ignores fleets and cycles through each fleet member individually.

I also had an unexplained crash to the desktop last night...nothing special about what was happening. It was my first full play attempt with the retail version. I was just cliking out of a planet screen when it went to the desktop.

When buying many social projects for the same planet in one single turn, they disappear from the list of stuff I can build on that planet but do not make it to the list of projects completed on the Details screen. I don't know if I'm still getting the benefit from them - some things seem to work and some do not. In particular, I once bought Ultra Spices in this way and have seen no trace of them since, but when I buy Soil Enhancement and Habitata Improvement in the same turn, they both seem to stay (or that is my impression anyway).

This is particularly nasty in conjunction with using Governors. When going to the Details screen and back again, the governor will change the social project, and if you had originally bought one project and wanted the turn to pass just so you'd get it, but the governor changed the project on you to something else that will also finish on that turn (research lab is a typical culprit for the last), it appears you lose the one you paid for.

Here is my bug report. It's a nasty one. I'm about to win the game via cultural domination for the first time and I'm really happy because Galactic Civ is a terrific game and the turn comes up for me to win and the game crashes to the desktop. Now whenever I try to load the autosave, the screen comes up red and frozen...and then crashes moments later to the desktop. Is it not possible to win via a cultural victory? :sniff!:
