Prehistory and the founding of the Union of Solar Republics

Ever since the dawn of mankind, humans have gazed into the stars and wondered what was out there. Various astronomers, astrologers, and even religious figures held the cosmos with an almost divine inspiration. It wasn't until the mid to late 20th centuries, however, that humanity was able to go into the stars. At first, progress was slow, and it was a divided effort. Various nations competed throughout the 20th and early 21st centuries to explore the solar system. And then, in October 2028, the People's Republic of China shocked the planet Earth when they established the first permanent settlement on Earth's moon. Soon, other nations raced to lay claim to both the moon and the other planets in the solar system, especially the United States of America. On October 2052, the US's space agency, NASA, established the first Martian colony. Also, throughout the 21st century, various European nations banded together and the European Union became the United States of Europe. The USE, as it was called in contrast to the USA, comprised of all nations in the European continent except for Russia and the former Soviet Republics. The USE then went on to compete with the USA, Russia, and the PRC to colonize space. Tensions between the four superpowers were tight, and lots of resources were also poured into the military, resulting in a new arms race in addition to the 2nd space race.

Despite massive amounts of research and resources that went into colonizing the solar system, progress in consolidating the new colonies and territory was slow, mainly because the primitive rocket and solar powered space ships were very slow. It could take up to 3 years to go across the planets, and there was not a whole lot of protection from the radiation that penetrated the ships on a daily basis. Nonetheless, the colonies began to grow and a communication between the worlds in the solar system was greatly improving.

And then, in 2128 off the coast of Australia, something extraordinary happened: First contact was made with the Acreans. Along with this contact were plans to create a Stargate that would allow contact across the galaxy. The scientists of Earth were overjoyed. Over the next 40 years, they took the stargate technology and with it they created hyperdrive, with which humanity can finally achieve its dream of spreading out into the universe. They proceeded to pass over the designs to the other major races in the galaxy.

At this point, all contact between stargates ceased. Immediately the nations of Earth began to panic, for they knew the implications of such technology. An emergency meeting, which included all of the nations of Earth and its superpowers, was held in the United Nations. Between the nations, there were various disagreements over what to do and how to proceed. The military spending of all four superpowers drastically went on the increase. Wars between the minor nations soon started to erupt, and eventually there was civil disorder and chaos since nobody knew what to do.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the wake of all the chaos, riots, and panic, the 4 superpowers of the Earth held yet a second meeting at the United Nations. It was soon decided that since there will be tensions among the other species of the galaxy, they needed to create a strong unified human state in order to survive in the new era. Over a period of 4 years, the Constitution of the interstellar and human union was created, and the Union of Solar Republics was founded.

Under the new world order, the four superpowers split off into 10 provinces all over the globe based on their geographic location, and all the colonies in space came directly under its control. A massive program was initiated to colonize the galaxy, and military officials started to look into building a serious space fleet to protect its colonies.

A lot of good things came into place after contact with the Acreans as well. Many anthropologist, psychologists, and humanities experts wanted desperately to learn about extra-terrestrial cultures and origins. Political scientists, lawyers and economists started to look into ways to communicate with them and establish trade with other alien species. Havard University's Institute of Xenocultures was at the forefront of all this research. It was not long before they developed the Universal Translator, which allowed humans to communicate with other alien species.

Part I: Exploration and Colonization

In the beginning of 2225, the Union of Solar Republics launched its first ever interstellar colony ship and survey ship, which is dubbed the SRS Columbus. This was part of the massive colonization program to take as many worlds in the galaxy as possible. The Pan-Asian Protectorate, which was formally the PRC, soon became the Earth's Industrial Park. They were expected to crank out one colony ship every four weeks.

The first major world colonized by the Union of Solar Republics was Hoth. This ice world was named after the old Star Wars fictional ice world. It was a class 7 planet and was ideal for research, for alien artifacts were found littered all over the planet's surface.

The second major world that was colonized was Gaia, named after the mother Earth in Greek Mythology because of it's extrodinary properties. This planet was a class 26 jewel. Gaia was destined to become the crown jewel of the Solar Republic and its major cultural, economic, and industrial capital. In later history, Gaia became more important than Earth in terms of military significance and was intended to be the Solar Republic's capital should Earth get destroyed or conquered.

The other major worlds that were colonized in the Milky Way Galaxy were Kalashnikov (Class 12), Dharma (Class 15), Topalov (Class 11), New Singapore (Class 10), Tao-Meson (Class 13), and Raskolnikov (Class 12).

By December of 2225, a total of 27 worlds were colonized. The leaders of the Solar Republic were now relieved that they had a good foot hold on the galaxy, and began to focus their resources on other things.

In July of 2225, first contact was made with the Yor. They did not seem very friendly, and they absolutely detested all carbon based life forms. These guys would participate in wars of genocide. 2 months, after contact with the Yor, humanity then made contact with the Altarians and the Torians. These species were good in nature and were the recommended races to ally with in the future, according to the political scientists and Xeno-Anthropologists at the time.

With the worlds colonized, the Solar Republic then turned to researching Trade and Space Weapons to defend its colonies and establish diplomatic relationships with the known species of the Universe.

Are you going to write any more parts? Also a few questions about the founding of the USR. Wouldn't countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, and others oppose a unified government. Also, how does meeting other aliens and especially the Altarians affect religion. Especially Islam in the Middle East and the Fastly growing Christainity in China and South Korea.

To answer your questions MoonColony13:

Pretty much, any country that resisted the unified government was violently dealt with. The ones that were opposed to it were some countries in Central Africa, Central America, some Eastern Europe countries and of course North Korea.
As for religion, even though there were some radicals that didn't like the idea of extra-terrestrial life, for the most part they cooperated in the formation of the USR and the vast majority of them welcomed the idea of extra-terrestrial life. In fact, some Christian sects have started to crank out missionaries to the alien worlds .

Anyways.... on to Part 2

Part 2: Diplomacy and Economic development

By the middle of 2226, most of the colonies were pretty well developed and defended. Military research has brought in the first of the Solar Republic defenses. Although these ships were small, they were outfitted with the most up to date Mass Driver technologies. Though there was some interest in researching defenses, it was later scrapped in favor of developing better hulls and faster engines. And because the ships were small, they were basically used as orbital defense platforms to ward off any opportunistic militant species. Also, the Strategic Space Command was established , whose sole responsibility was to defend and maintain military operations by the Solar Republic. The main military starbase was established over the orbit of Gaia.

Much focus was spent on diplomatic relations with the known races of the Universe. At this point, about 5 races were known, having had contact with the vile Drengin at the start of the year. The Drengin were in some way even worse than the Yor, although they did not appear to have a grudge against the humans at this point. Trade treaties were established between the Altarian and the Torian species. The major trade worlds were Earth, Gaia, and Raskolnikov. These worlds alone brought in about 90% of the trade revenue, and Gaia brought in about 60% of that.

Another main focus was developing better infrastructure and planetary improvements. By the end of 2226, the Union of Solar Republics managed to develop soil enhancements, manufacturing centers, research centers, and multimedia centers. Embassies and influence starbases were built on planets that were bordering other empires so that we could spread our culture and enlighten the other alien species. Many merchants became billionaires overnight due to trade with the Altarians. In addition, a galactic achievement was built: the Restaraunt of Eternity. It was built in New Bagdad, Gaia. The president of the Solar Republic, who was Minos, went over there to announce the opening and cut the ribbon to its doors himself. It was a wonderful moment for the USR, and it seemed as if things were just getting better and better.

However, by the beginning of 2227, tensions were beginning to mount. At this point, all the races, including the minor ones, have been discovered in the Milky Way. The Yor were very disdainful and jealous of our culture. Preying upon our apparent military weakness, they demanded for a tribute of 112bc. The Solar Republic refused to give in. Even though the Yor didn't do anything as a result, this concerned the politicians and especially the military officials. To quote four star general Brian Walton: "It is now apparent to us that we have fallen behind in military technology dramatically. For the sake of interstellar security, I urge Congress that we must put a lot more resources to upgrade our obviously obsolete military hardware". Taxes were raised, and much more resources were poured into developing better warships and weapons. In addition, funds were allocated for espionage on the Yor. Lastly, sensor drones were created to observe Yor ship movements and military evaluation.

What the intelligence reports found was alarming: The Yor had developed Lasers Mark V. In addition, they had the strongest military in the Galaxy, and are already beginning to develop medium sized hulls! Military officials panicked. The Strategic Space Command then started to allocate massive funds to research Beam Weapon Defenses and to rush to develop Mass Drivers Mark 3 and Singularity Drivers. Also, the Strategic Space Command established contracts with Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Hitchiner Manufacturing to develop the Napoleon class frigate, the first of the medium sized ships. The plans to develop these included to equip it with first generation Singularity Drivers, Deflectors, Enhanced Miniturazation, and third generation Impulse Drive engines. In addition, new classes of defenses were cranked out to replace the first generation fighters and orbital defense platforms. All were equiped with 5th generation Cypress Class Railguns and deflector technology. By March of 2227, the first of the Napoleon class ships were released. Strategic Space Command has ordered that about 45 Napoleon class warships would be built over 6 months.

The Napoleon class ships were the best of its kind: it was equipped with 3 Hyperion class Singularity Drivers, 1 second generation Deflector, 2 third generation Impulse Drive engines and general life support for long duration flights. It is to be accompanied with a sensor ship, therefore saving space on the frigate.

Other than military concerns, there was also tensions between other races too. The Drengin and the Altarians hated each other, the Torians were concerned with the increased Korx military presence near their borders. The Acreans started a campaign of establishing influence starbases toward the lower portions of my empire, although sociologists have said that there is really nothing to worry about at this point. In the middle of 2227, the Drath and the Acreans declared war on each other, and there is political pressure from the Acreans to support them in their efforts. President Minos sat by his window in his office, wondering where this galaxy was headed off to.

It is now September 2227 and the Acreans and the Drath are engaged in a full scale war. Our surveillance units in the area are keeping watch on the battles. The Drath seem to have the upper hand, as the Acreans have lost a world so far and appeared to be on the defensive. However, our military experts say that this advantage may be short lived, because their frigates are beginning to win more battles. Also, they have more ships, so they should be able to turn the tide.

In the meantime, the Yor have been breathing on our backs. So far, they demanded 500 bc from us, and so far we keep refusing. The Senate is worried that deteriorating relations with the Yor will lead to war, and our intelligence reports tell us that our military is inadequate to deal with the Yor threat. In addition, the Yor are beginning to build up on our borders. The President then decides to try to use a few political maneuvers to prevent the Yor from attacking. It was then that the President decided to turn to his Altarian friends....

Minos spoke to Necros to see if he could convince him to go to war with the Yor. Our intelligence states that their military is about the same strength as the Yor's, and they make up to 46% of their income from trade with us. Combined with our superb diplomatic skills, he had every reason to believe that they would go to war with them. At the same time, the Strategic Space Command received orders to prepare to divert forces to the Carinoid's system, since the Yor got up to 25% of their trade revenue from them. The plan was to fight a proxy war and take out the minor races that traded with the Yor. While the Altarians took them head on, we would try to nip at their economy. We offered the Altarian Republic a few Napoleon class frigates and third generation deflector technology and 2100bc in exchange for war against the war, to which they agreed to.

And so now there are two wars going on: Drath vs Acreans and the Altarians vs the Yor. With the Yor engaged with the Altarians, we are happy to have them off our backs, for the time being. In the meantime, the Senate has approved of the operation on Vizzard III, the Carinoid's homeworld. Codenamed Operation Stalker, the plan was to send about 10 Napoleon class ships, 16 X-221 Wraith (small ships), and 3 transports to occupy the world and its sister planet. These worlds are also pretty good, about class 14 and 8 respectively. On November 2227, the Strategic Space Command initiated Operation Stalker. It was a complete success. The worlds were taken in one week with minimal losses on our side. The best part was that conventional warfare was only needed, and they didn't put up much of a resistance. Literally, the troops just steamrolled over the planetary defenses. It was even suggested by Alexandra Bender that the orbital bombardment was probably the only thing that was needed, since their military capability was mostly obliterated from the orbital bombardment. With this maneuver, the Yor's economy is suffering a set back. The Yor also cannot focus on me because they are busy with the Altarians, of whom are of equal strength. We also considered fighting an economic war with the Drengin, since they were their main trading partner, but it was soon aborted in favor of destabilization. The Drengin are not really big on culture and their military is not quite as strong, so our intelligence reports have said. So, we started to establish some influence bases on their fringe worlds and started to allocate funds on destabilization of the Drengin Empire to force their heavily populated worlds into rebellion. We hoped that this would give the Yor a lot of problems that they would have to deal with.

At this point, the Union of Solar Republics were now feeling more secure. But then, critics were pointing out that this may not last long. The Altarians did not seem interested in taking any of the Yor worlds, and it is unlikely that these maneuvers went unnoticed by the Yor, for we heard reports that the Yor is attempting to destabilize us and they are attacking all Altarian freighters headed toward the USR.

The Milky Way is starting to become tense, and the new president elected for the Federalist party, Ryan Snider, is quite worried over the state of affairs. The major fear is that the Yor will start waging war, and the president has approved of more military spending for the development of better ships and better logistics abilities.

On the plus side, the Napoleon class ships appear to be capable of going against the might of the Yor, as observed through battles between the Altarians and the Yor fleets. (Remember, the Altarians were given a few ships from us ).

Good story. I particularly like the effort put into the backstory, if only because it very closely parallels one of my homebrew science fiction universes.

A few details:

One: I don't mean to nitpick, but it's "Arceans," not "Acreans."

Two: What were Volumes I and II about?

Three: The names of the nine contributers are... interesting. I spot four definite humans, two possible Drengin, and what appear to be three Yor/Human hybrids. I suppose we'll be finding out how that works after you conquer Iconia.

To answer your questions Arilias:

1. sorry for the mistake, I just wasn't sure how to spell Arceans.

2. Volumes I and II were history books that predated the third volume. Actually, I probably should have went with Edition I and II, that is more accurate.

3. You will find out in the 6th and 7th installments. I have estimated that there will be 9-10 in all (up from the previous 6).

And now, to the 4th part.....

Part 4: Diplomatic Tensions and War

This was how things were in the beginning of 2228:
Arceans and Drath were still at war.
Altarians and Yor were at war.
We have annexed Vizzard II and III.

In late January 2228, the Congress of the USR met to discuss the situation with the war between the Altarians and the Yor. The Altarians lost 2 trade routes so far to the Yor aggression, and they were destroying key economic bases. Both were bound for Gaia. Many human merchants and Altarians lives were lost so far. It was then decided that the remaining freighters would be escorted by some of our ships, and to build economic bases in their territory to replace the ones that were lost. In addition, thanks to a treaty made in the UP about military bases giving assistance to allies, we decided to build a few military "checkpoints" around their major trading worls. Also, we diverted more trade routes to Altaria.

In March 2228, the Drath and the Arceans signed the Treaty of Boston, which was mediated by us. The war had taken toll on both sides, and the Arceans gained one of their worlds. However, there were heavy losses on both sides, and most of their influence starbases on my southern border were destroyed, which was good. They appear to be weakened by the war that they just waged, for we heard rumors that the Korx were demanding tribute from them shortly afterwards.

In April 2228, the Altarians and the Yor made peace with each other, which worried officials in the USR. Because they were in peace now, the Yor would surely go after us shortly, for it was only a matter of time. Military research went on the increase, and there were plans to make a next generation frigate to replace the Napoleon.

Throughout the summer of 2228, closer ties with the Altarians were made, and the Torians also told us about concerns with the Yor menace. In addition, they were back to building up on our borders and near Vizzard III and II, which by the way was renamed Caroline and Endor respectively. The president issued a state of emergency, and the Strategic Space Command was put on red alert. The Yor have the most powerful military in the galaxy, and they seemed very eager to invade our worlds. The worlds with the largest populations: Earth, Gaia, Raskolnikov, Dharma, New Singapore, Siagon and Veradun were ordered to crank out transports and all the worlds were ordered to prepare civil defenses. Orbital Fleet Managers and Planetary Defenses were soon activated and operational. Also, they started to build third generation orbital platform defenses, which used medium sized hulls and were loaded with 2nd generation Singularity Drivers and Topalov class Harpoon Missiles.

The Yor then came and demanded tribute for the last time, about 1784bc. The Solar Republic didn't even have that much in its treasury, and so refused. It was then that the Yor Collective declared war on the Solar Republic.

Human-Yor War

August 2228-January 2229

The Human-Yor war was the first of the three wars against the Yor collective. There were 5 major battles that took place, and it ended with the Treaty of Gaia in January of 2229. It did not go so well for the humans, though later military experts concluded that we did alright.

On August 23, 2228, the Yor smashed right through to our upper borders of the Republic. This was the last transmission from Starbase Novaya: "Mayday, Mayday! There is a fleet of 13 ships firing upon us. Back up needed". The Strategic Space Command mobilized its offensive fleets to halt the Yor advance. The main offensive fleets were the Omega Fleet (31 ships) and the Alpha Fleet (40 ships). The rest were ordered to stay at their homeworlds and defend the planets. Within these fleets, several Napoleon class ships and X-272 Wraiths were present, along with sensor ships and transports. In addition, Lockheed Martin and Novaya Galactic were ordered to develop the new class of warships that would take out the Yor ships. The Yor sent out 4 major fleets to invade our worlds.

Battle of Carolina
The first of the major battles that took place was the Battle of Carolina. It ended in defeat for the humans and the occupation of Carolina and Endor. It was the first planets they invaded and the offensive fleets were unable to get there in time. On September of 2229, several Yor frigates attacked and destroyed the the few orbital defenses that were placed there. And then, the Yor sent about 2 billion troops to invade Carolina to face off against the 4 billion human defenders. Orbital bombardments included the use of chemical and biological warfare. The poorly equiped humans were no match for the Yor, and so the world quickly fell. At the same time, they swiftly took over its sister world Endor. Omega Fleet and Alpha Fleet were pulled back.

Battle of Epsilion
The second battle was a battle between the defensive Beta fleet and the Yor 3rd fleet. It was fought over the Epsilion system in an effort to halt their advance toward Topalov. About 8 Napoleon class ships and 15 X-272 were involved on the human side, while the Yor had 7 Mark II frigates and 17 Heavy's. (Note, my logistics wasn't that good, I just sent 3 different sets of fleets and mashed them together.). The battle was a major loss for the humans. During the battle, it was found that the second generation frigates had mass driver defenses, and so our weapons were inadequate against them. They still used beam weapons (now its Plasma Weapons), so we could still counter their weapons with sheilds. It was the first major loss of the war, and this was an indication that it wasn't going so well.

Battle of Topalov
This was one of the bloodiest battles of this war. The battle began on November 2228. 5 billion troops on the Yor side and 12 billion on Topalov were involved. To invade, the Yor used both its 2nd and third battle fleets to surround it and cut it off from any outside help. They obliterated the defenses around Topalov, although they managed to inflict heavy casualties on the Yor fleets. And then, they sent 5 billion troops, which included various mech assault units and several air to space divisions. For 3 weeks, the battle was fought. The fighting was fierce, and there were orbital bombardments on a daily basis. The Yor authorized the use of nuclear weapons in an attempt to soften the planetary defenses on Topalov. In the end, the Yor overwhelmed the human forces and many were taken prisoner. Topalov was a major industrial world, so it was a major loss. However, many factories were destroyed in the nuclear barrage. In addition, the Beta Fleet, which was based in Topalov, was totally obliterated. The fleet admirals then went to the Strategic Space Command headquaters in Gaia to discuss their plans on driving the Yor out. The war was looking grim. They also took its sister world Einstein (Class 5).

Battle of the Tin Cans
This was one of the more lopsided battles of the war, and one that was unexpected. It is so called because it was fought entirely with X-272 Wraiths on the human side against 5 frigate Mark II on the Yor side. It was also the first victory for the human side. It was fought near the Topalov system. In addition, it was fought within range of a nearby military starbase, which is suspected to help in their victory. As the humans were on the retreat, a division of X-272 Wraiths were ordered to strike the Yor fleet to harass them. The battle began on 4:15 a.m. PST and the X-272 Wraiths were flying in. The battle was fierce. For one, the fleet had the element of surprise, so the Yor fleet never saw it comming. The guns were ablaze, and the pilots decided that they were going to fight to the finish. The X-272 eventually overwhelmed the small Yor fleet, and they were destroyed with minimal losses on the human side. This was the first true, though unexpected, victory for the human race. People were celebrating this and morale was up.

Battle of Saratoga
This was the final battle between the humans and the Yor. It took place at Saratoga Starbase, which was a major influence base. The Strategic Space Command correctly determined that the Yor 4th and 2nd fleet would meet here on their course to Dune (class 9). It was a major ship-to-ship battle. The plan was to initiate a 3 pronged attack with the Omega Fleet, the Alpha Fleet and the Osiris Fleet. In addition, the Osiris Fleet had the first of the next generation frigates: The Freedom Class. The Freedom Class ships were equiped with 3rd generation Topalov class Harpoon missiles, 2nd generation Singularity Drivers and 2 first generation Warp engines. Also, they had shields to defend against the powerful plasma weapons. As they approached starbase Saratoga, the Alpha Fleet decided to take them head on, while the other fleets came in and took them from the rear and their left flank. The battle was fierce, and there were substantial losses on both sides. These fleets were cut off from all supports, and in the end they were obliterated completely. Several prisoners were taken, and it ended with a decisive human victory. However, almost all Napoleon class ships were lost on the in this battle, but no Freedom Class ships were lost.

With their offensive capability depleted somewhat, the Yor sued for peace. Overall, the Strategic Space Command has estimated that we still don't have the resources to conquer them, so the USR agreed to the peace terms. The Treaty of Gaia was signed, and the Yor pulled out.

There were about 16 billion casualties on the human side and about 4 billion on the Yor side. In addition, the humans lost 4 worlds, thus there were about 25 worlds remaining in the USR. Various starbases and trade routes on both sides were attacked, damaged and lost.

According to intelligence reports, the Yor are quickly rearming and researching to get the next generation weapons. Things are not looking so well. The Torians offered to supply ships to us during the war to aid us against the Yor.

Here is the long awaited Part 5.....

Part 5: Galactic Tensions and beginnings of Galactic War I

Here were the start of the Dark Ages of the Union of Solar Republics. A major event had occured and there was a large decrease in interest of alien cultures, meaning that there was Xenophobia for some reason. 3 of our trade routes have been destroyed during the Human-Yor war, and our economy was reeling a bit. Topalov, once our prime industrial world, had been lost, and so industry was reeling a bit too. However, the government was determined to get back on its feet and rebuild, rearm, and maybe try to liberate our worlds that were now under Yor occupation.

The Strategic Space Command had ordered that about 50 Freedom Class ships would be built, with the Napoleon classes scrapped. In addition, there were plans to build about 10 new military starbases to protect the rest of the worlds. Intelligence reports have stated that the Yor were rearming.

Meanwhile, all of the races were in conflict with each other. Though war was not yet declared between them, we were hearing rumors that the stronger races were attempting to extort money from the weaker ones. We had to stop destabilizing the Drengin for fear of Yor intervention, and to save money. We did manage to get some of the worlds to rebel and declare themselves independent of the Drengin with much effort however.

The government spent massive amounts of research to upgrade infrastructure: Advanced Factories became Manufacturing Centers, Multimedia Center gave way to giant stadiums, Research Centers became Research Acadamies, etc. In addition, we tried desperately to catch up to the most powerful military in the Galaxy: The Yor. Since the Yor had more than adequate defenses against Mass Drivers, much more focus was aimed at developing missile weapon systems. The Strategic Space Command set off an ambitious project, to have all classes of ships equiped with Photonic Torpedoes by the middle of 2230. In fact, the first battleship (Huge Hulls, that is) that the USR will build is designed to have photonic torpedoes. We kept a close eye on the Yor weapon systems, and they began to switch to mass drivers, so we decided to develop our armor technology.

Taxes went on the increase to fund our military and civil research, and to maintain the high priced new improvements. We started to establish trade treaties with the Arceans, for the hope of gaining favor with us.

And then, we heard rumors that yet another war has erupted: the Korx vs the Drengin. The Korx have been annoyed with them for quite a while and it seemed as if they were intent to take them out. We had nothing much to fear, because they were irrelevent at this point. But, this war proved to be the catalyst to the start of Galactic War I.

The other races decided to either support the Korx or the Drengin, for hopes that they may cash in on the situation. This naturally led to even greater conflicts between the races themselves. It was known that the Yor were in full support of the Drengin, while the Altarians and the Arceans were rumored to offer ships to aid the Korx. The Drath, who were already against the Arceans in the first place, put their support behind the Drengin, and decided to commit acts of sabatage against the Arceans. The Torians, who were suddenly friendly to the Yor, decided to intervine on their behalf. The Thalans were indifferent to the situation and decided to help who ever they thought had to advantage. The Iconians, who hated the Yor, decided to send its own ships to the aid of the Korx.

Soon, these act lead to trade embargos and outright sabatage. They started to extort the minor races to pressure them to join on one side or the other. And most of all, there was increasing pressure from the other races to aid either the Drengin or the Korx. We initially refused. But eventually, with the Yor constantly threatening us, we turned to side with the Korx, along with the Altarians. We established an alliance with the Arceans to protect each other.

And then, on February 2230, all hell broke loose. The government and the Strategic Space Command got a message from the Yor, stating that they were now fighting an idealogical war against all carbon based life, and we were considered to be the top priority. We tried to talk to the Yor to see what was up, but they wanted nothimg more than to see us destroyed. The second war against the Yor had begun, and with it, Galactic War I.

Soon after they declared war against us, they also had to declare war against the Arceans too, because they were allied with us. And since the Arceans were also allied with the Torians, they also brought them into the war. Unfortunently, the Yor also had powerfull allies too. The Drath decided to take advantage of this situation by declaring war on the Arceans and allied themselves with the Yor. The Drengin decided to ally with the Yor and declared war on us as well, sense they were also bordering the Solar Republic. The Drengin also declared war on the Iconians because of their alleged efforts to convert their worlds. The Thalans sided with the Yor because they felt that they would be better off choosing their side. All at the same time, the races on each side were eventually forced to declare war on any race who was on the opposing side, even though they focused on one or two specific races.

The Yor wasted no time mobilizing its fleets to launch a massive invasion of the Union of Solar Republics. Also, the Yor started to step up its funds to destabalize us. The Strategic Space Command called upon all the worlds to take their arms and fight for the survival of the human race. The war that was to come ahead would become known as the second most brutal and bloodiest war humanity has ever fought.

And now the next section will be Galactic War I, the first of the three great galactic wars. I will write this tomorrow .

Sorry that I haven't been writing this, I had other priorities....

Well anyway, time to continue this long, long story.

Part 6 Galactic War I: Part 1

Galactic War I was one of the most destructive wars in human history, and in galactic history for that matter. This war featured some of the bloodiest battles in human history, as well as the first time weapons of mass-destruction were used on a massive scale. It is estimated that over 300 billion troops were employed galaxy wide. In addition to those billions of troops, it is also estimated that about 1400 military ships were employed in total. Human casualties ran into the tens of billions, while the galaxy as a whole suffered about 170 billion casualties. As for the political climate, it resulted in the collapse and the partition of the Drengin Empire. The Yor Collective, Altarian Republic, and the Korx lost their status of superpower, in addition into falling into disarray. The Solar Republic ended up losing billions of lives and the economy collapsed shortly after the end of the war. The Arceans and the Drath rose to the status of great powers in the immediate aftermath. The front that is covered most extensively in this history text is the battles between the Yor and the Republic, and also the war between the Drengin and the Republic.

A total of 16 major battles took place, with the majority of them being against the Yor. Also, one of the greatest offensives in galactic history occurred, known as Operation Storm initiated by the humans against the Drengin.

On March 14th 2230, the Yor Collective declared war on the Solar Republic. Of course, before then, the Strategic Space Command initiated a state of emergency. Their reasons for going to war against us was so that they could begin their genocidal campaign to wipe out all carbon based life beginning with the human race. Driven by ideology, and aided with some of the best military technology in the galaxy, the humans were hard pressed to find an effective way to counter the Yor offensive. The Altarians decided to offer us some ships, as well as try to attack the Yor in some way, even though they were busy with their own wars.

The vast Yor fleets and their Drengin allies stormed right through the borders of the Solar Republic and started to destroy everything in their path, from ships to trade routes to starbases. The Omega and the Alpha fleet were ordered to take defensive positions around Gaia, Kalashnikov, and New-Singapore, two of which were near the Yor offensive fleets. The human defenders knew that this would be a long, bloody war.

Battle of Dostoevsky and the Yor Collective Offensive

This battle is so named because it centered around a class 9 world known as Dostoevsky. Though the world was not the best class, it was the home of the galaxy-famous research centers including the technological capital and the precursor artifacts. This world is of critical importance to maintain research in improving military technology among other things. The two human fleets that were present were the Delta and the Republic 4th fleet, against 4 unspecified Yor fleets which had about 5 transports. About 71 ships were involved in this battle. And so, on March 21st, the battles began all over the orbit above Dostoevsky. The human fleets had the new Leviathan class ships that were equipped with photonic torpedoes and new Barrier technology to counter their beam weapons. The Yor, however, had suddenly switched to mass drivers, so our barriers proved next to useless. Regardless, the photonic torpedoes were able to do a massive amount of damaged to their fleets. Because of the sheer number of Yor fleets and their experience, the Delta and the Republican 4th fleet were pushed back. On the planet itself, the well equipped Yor were facing off against the ill equipped and the sparsely populated world. The world was taken by the Yor, but not before destroying the technological capital. The Solar Republic was forced to relocate its prime research center to Praxis, a class 11 world that was far from the front lines.

*When I have more time, I'll continue part 1. I have to go and shovel snow off of my drive way right now*

Oh please continue this! This is so awesome! It makes me wish I was good enough to get all that research done in such time, as well as having the eco to get all those ships! How do you do it?

B-19 bomb into the magizine

Actually, the bomb was from a F-4. Imeant to say that the tin cans beat thefleet the Yamato was commanding. The big ship itself ran, which is REALLY wierd.
that is what the japaneese did during world war 2 whenever they went up against real oppisition they ran away

i had heard it was a b-19 but an f-4 bomb is just as good

Technecally, i'm wrong too, because it wasn't one bomb from one plane that killed the Yamato, it was constant attacks from many planes that sunk it, and as it sunk, the powder magazines exploded.

KABOOM!

What do mean by "violently dealt with"? were they attacked unprovoked or sactioned straight to purgatory?
