Bashing

i love object dock and also desktop x (till it crashed!) However, Im amazed at the impoliteness and immaturity that lath these forms, many by people that represent stardock. right or wrong if a person has a problem bashing them or making fun of them is absolutely unnecessary. I can only guess that thees are good people (doing the bashing) that have somehow have been taught that its cool to do. I also cant understand how the management of stardock allows it, and i strongly feel a company can not stay successful if this behavior becomes the norm. Id like to share just 1 negative experience& and one non negative one.

I see examples in about every 5th post i read. But taking my own as an example. since i Mentioned desktopX, when desktopX crashed on me some 2 months ago (which i had been using for over a yr) and when i couldn't fix it, i immediately went to the forum to seek help. After taking the time to create my post explaining in some detail my situation, the only replys i was met with were replys such as

what threads are you referring too? I looked at all of your posts and all your skins comments and didn't see anything out of line..

so go ahead, take another turn and bash me or make fun of something ive said here, or my behavior, thats a great way to build a community. Who benefits from being told their stupid, even if there are out of place on one issue or all the issues? Nobody. Just leave it alone if nothing else, cant that be done.

There's no reason to "bash" you, jimmyyy.  I understand what you are trying to convey here, but if you could show me some specific examples of where you feel someone was "out of line", I would be interested in taking a look at it.  If you don't want to post them here, then feel free to e-mail them to me.

On a side note, I noticed that you were referring to "BUMPING".  That is something that happens quite often here, but people do it to "bump" the thread back to the top of the list so it will get attention.  It's not meant for someone to "make fun" of someone, it's usually intended to help bring a problem back into the spotlight.

Some of your posts I have been reading I notice people were using emoticons in some of them.  Usually here when people post emoticons it's usually in a humorous manner, and not any kind of personal attack.

I wonder how many other people have been 'BUMPED' because they were wrong,

are you referring to the actual word *bump*?

as Island Dog said - since threads slide down as more post are made or have activity, this causes it to rise to the top to be seen. (It's not nice to frequently bump your own post for attention though, unless it's genuinely sliding off the chart - then you can "bump" it up) - sometime we do it with words, sometimes with animated gifs.

both of these:

are to *bump* the post up into view

off topic color test:

Bring

Up

My

Post

color don't work for me, and opening in word, the webpage preview, the view source to copy/paste is time consuming

the previous was another *bump* using the art of off topic - not as easily identifiable as, and not to be confused, with spam or "i-trolling" (which should never be confused with "I, Trolling".)

Thank you, i don't feel im being bashed at all. This post was not regarding people being offensive toward me, though i can see how it could appear that way. I only used 2 personal examples to try to share my point. What i was trying to refer this post to is when i see this happen to others especially new people. Thank you for your immediate concern. Im sure your all are much much more familiar with these forms than myself. Im not saying one person is committing murder, im just sharing my opinion on what ive read as ive walked into different post in the last 15 to 20 days. Im sorry also ive never been one yet to tell on others its just not something i grew up doing. Perhaps ive seen some special cases, please forgive me again i don't feel to mention them. I was not looking for replies so much, nor someone i could give a list of names to. I was sharing the things ive seen that bothered me, which where of course negitive. Im not saying everyone should pucker up to a person thats upset about something or someone that asks what an icon is. Im just saying i wish individuals would choose not to reply if its a negative reply or making fun of or bashing or anything like it. I can see how in some cases they justify that their standing up for something or someone. Please one more time this is not about (one) particular person or post. And im not looking for a reply so much as only that i wanted people to read it.

I'm still wondering what you meant by:

I wonder how many other people have been 'BUMPED' because they were wrong, or so someone could have a laugh at them, or to make them self feel better, or to show there intelligence. And those bumped people could have become perhaps decent, moderate or great advocates in some form.

Yes, i apologize im not completely familiar with all the terminology, but i most defiantly have seen bump used derogatorily more than once, as a not nice joke per to say.

What i meant is using not the word bump or any particular world but but the effect of making fun of someone thats posting a concern or issue. I don't have making fun of issues. i just haven't liked some of the things ive seen as ive walked into posts.

anyways i never meant to have to back up my words. i wish i could have came across a little more clear in my initial post, but i hope if someone reads this they will understand what im trying to convey.

Well jimmyyy I once again understand where you are coming from, but it's hard for us to know exactly what you are referring to without examples.

i completely agree, i will say, and i dont want to make this an issue, it allready is

it is true after re-reading that desktopX comment i can understand a little bit more of whats was going on, and so it was not a good example to use.

But look at it, as a new user (to forms) its like there speaking another language. at the time i was completely unfamiliar with any of the lingo they were talking about and referring, it felt like they were playing tag in my post were i was trying to figure out my problem

i didn't expect any feed back regarding my initial post, but im glad to learn a few things here and i appreciate the time you've all spent addressing my concerns.
