Real time (a la Sins of a Solar Empire) or turn based (example: GalCiv 2) which do you prefer?

Epic battles and snap decision making or long term planning and cunning tactics?

If you had only enough money to buy one game and you were faced with a Real time strategy and a Turn based strategy, which would you go for?

For me, I massively enjoy both however I would lean toward RTS simply because of the more large scale warfare and action.

I just want to know, out of pure curiosity, which type of strategy the majority of you out there prefer.

i do have one question about "real time" how long are you planning for a multiplayer game to be? is research going to take months? how slow are ships? these are some questions i havent found the answers to yet (im a bit new on forum).

I think it varies greatly depending on how big of a game you set up. If you have only 1 system with 3 planets then things will probably move along pretty quick. But if you have 12 systems with 9 plants each then the game will be much much longer. As to exactly how long that is, well, I dunno. I think the range is supposed to be from about an hour on up. But again, I really don't know.

I believe a short game could be 15 minutes, a mid sized one at least 1/2 an hour and the really huge ones can last half a freaking day.
