on the *planetary* maps (as in the "maps" around planetary orbit) will SoaSE have a limited 3-D setup (in that the map is like a donut, with the planet in the center. i.e. you cannot fly over the poles of the planet because this is "off the map") or will it be a full 3-D (a complete sphere in which you *can* fly over the poles)?

personally I like the second one, but I dont think we've gotten a definate answer yet.

You can fly over the poles.  The orbital well is a giant sphere.

Will planets block sensors?
Ex. will a fleet on the other side of an attacking fleet be hidden, and can then rush over the poles to reinforce?
