Funky Problem with Multiplicity

I have a funky problem with multiplicity. It installs on the master and the slaves just fine. The mouse moves between the master and the slaves. But after a bout 10 seconds of usage on the slave the mouse (and keyboard) focus moves back to the master. This happens all the time. I can barely get 10 seconds of usage of mouse and keyboard on the slave before the master computer gets the focus again.

Any ideas? Using 1.05.008

Thanks.

It sounds like you are losing connectivity between PCs and MP sends focus back to the primary.

hmmm....I can move gigabytes of data using regular "copy" between the computers with no problem so don't think that's the issue since I'm not losing connection there...

Thanks.

It sounds like the version of Multiplicity on the secondary does not match the version on the primary.  It is important to update all machines when installing updates.

I would uninstall multiplicity on the secondary pc, reboot and then reinstall multiplicity on it.

Neil:

All machines are running the same version. I updated multiplicity simultaneously on all the machines through stardock central. They all are running the same version.

Thanks.

I've had some upgrades that left parts of MP behind. I'd uninstall, reboot, check if anything was left behind (clean up if neccessary), install, reboot.

I just tried that. Removed MP, checked to make sure directory was gone; reinstalled. Still having the same issue. Any ideas appreciated. Oh - and now for some reason I can't use the ENTER key in this dialog box in stardock central that I'm using to compose this response which is weird. Thanks for any more help/suggestions! - eLindy

[Ctrl]-M will insert page breaks. Don't know why, but it works. I can't use [Enter] either.

Does anyone know if there's a phone number I can use to contact stardock directly. I'm dead in the water with the app...

Thanks.

PS: Thanks Sir Zubaz - [CTRL-M] works!

Niel is the lead developer of MP now and is aware of the situation. That's a good start. You can try to contact Stardock directly via IRC. That has always worked well for me. irc.stardock.com

Since I use Stardock Central, I don't have a link, but check out the "Rapidly dropping connection" thread here, it's pretty much the same issue. For me disabling the "offloading" features of the on-board network card on my nVidia nForce3 based motherboard resolved the issue. IME if it stutters and lags before disconnecting, then it's usually a network issue. Multiplicity is more sensitive to network conditions than file transfers would be - with a file transfer a momentary drop in throughput, or even a few seconds of not being able to transfer any data, won't affect you much, but with MP it would be very very noticible.
