Quick Question...Has anyone received an invite for Vista Beta 2 yet. I realize MSDN and Technet plus folks have it...but what about those of us who need an invite. Frankly, I was surprised to get the Office invite before the Vista invite. I don't know why, I just thought Vista was further along than Office.

I downloaded the Office 2007 beta today after seeing a promotion through Facebook (haha?) and played around with Word a little tonight. It still seems a little bloated. I mean, what's the point of having the font settings in the ribbon, on the little pop-up window from the window, and on right-click? I like the new main menu, the status bar, and a bunch of the other settings. I just don't like having the same option in multiple places.

Okay i'm confused now downloaded 2007 trying to install but keep getting a box that says something has to be shut down but the box doesn't specify what needs to be not running.....any one have any ideas?

I clicked on "Retry" a couple of times when I got the same message error (not listing anything that needed to be shut down). I finally gave up and clicked on "Ignore" and it finished the installation. I rebooted right after the install was finished in case there were any files that may have been "locked up" or "in-use" during installation. No problems here.

Has anyone had their window start to draw at a lower resolution than what the desktop is set to?
My res is set to 1280x1024, but when I open any office2007 program its drawn as, I speculate, a lower resolution like 1024 or 800? I can't find anything in the view, tools, or options that would make this happen so I'm very confused?
See linked screen for example:

I had to uninstall Office 2003 before it would install correctly.

Ah - too many lock-ups at this point. Had to uninstall it and go back to Office 2003. I'll jump in the testing next release.

It's been running very good for me.  I really like it.

Eh? How is it against the law?

Anyways... I think I have to wait a few days to get the Vista Beta as the MS servers are getting hammered atm.

It's actually against the law to be running this copy of Office 2007. User beware!

Not true.

The Office 2007 beta is officially a public release and you will be sent a key by Microsoft via e-mail after signing up.

Installed the Vista and Office betas on a free hd. I think, I will become a fan of both. Running nicely, had some issues with drivers for my integrated 3com Gigabit LOM and Soundblaster audigy, but the xp driver for the 1st works flawlessly and creative has a beta driver for vista, so everything is good.

Now is there any thread listing Stardock programs that don't work or have problems with Vista ?

WB won't run on Vista. They got a version them self that works, but none availible to the public. Last week a beta of DesktopX was released that was said to support Vista. I've heard reports that ObjectDock woks, but there might be issues. Not sure about the rest. I'd like to try out Vista myself now, but I got London Show to prepare to next week and that takes priority.

I've downloaded both Office Pro Plus 2007 & Vista Beta (4358). I'm impressed with Office thus far - a number of very usable features and so far, nothing I've not been able to open/view/save from prior versions of Office (2003). Vista on the other hand is simply too Beta at this point for me to be able to perform serious testing. Most of my apps will not work. Either they won't install or once installed, won't work. I spent most of my time reporting these software / app issues so hopefully they will look into fixing some of them (mainstream software). I truly believe that there are a suprising number of issues with Vista, considering how long it's been in development. BTW - I performed the following installs: Clean on a separate partition, an upgrade over XP Home SP2 (worked the best under this environment) and a completely clean install by itself. If I could do a little more with it, I'd probably still be using it. Also, the eye-candy is good, but really nothing I can't get through Stardock. More to follow I'm sure ---

Not true with regards to the legality of running this software. I subscribe to TechNet and even if I did not, this is a "Public Beta Release", available through Microsoft. Once you have signed in, they ship you a valid product key and expect you to use it.

Vista does work pretty well on my computer, but then its only 6 months old. Software isnt too bad either. Except Windowblinds and Desktop X does not work, even the latest 3.19(a) edition of DX doesnt work. A BIG shame as it's now got external scripts!
Hm. I wonder what Vista version they tested DX on since they said it was Vista compatible...

I am wondering whether Desktop X itself works on Vista or just its widgets? I will try it now and let you know
