Women and Hair

When I was young, my mother cut my hair.  She had 2 styles.  Crew cut (hate it!) and Bowl cut (at least it was not a crew cut).  I remember going off to college and getting a girl to cut my hair, I actually could tell her how I wanted it! (Although I was clueless at the time).

Then came post College and I was not going to get a MOM cut!  So I was recommended to a stylist that was my mother's friend.  She was a professional!  But I did not know what she looked like, so I got another one (did not know it at the time) Brenda.  Want to know what Brenda looked like?  Dolly Parton and add 50 pounds.  I thought that was my mom's friend!

But she did a good job and I went to her for years.  Habit.  She knew how I liked to cut my hair.  I stopped when getting an appointment became an ordeal.  Since then, I have wandered from barber to barber, and frequent the places that do it right.  but in the last 5 years, I have probably had a dozen different "hair Stylists".  I am not a very loyal customer (but I do tip if they do it well).

Now take my wife (no, not literally!).  She has been going to a hair stylist for the last umpteen years.  This hair stylist is 45 miles away!  Does she switch now that gas is $3/gal?  not on your life!  She spends $20 in gas for her do!  I will say that either her hair is naturally beautiful (I think that is the truth) or her stylist is good.  But not that good! (I pay from $4-$10 per cut).

What is it with Women and their hair?  They have to have that one person who can do it right because they have been doing it right?  I think not.  I found out that many women can.  And some men.  But many don't either.  But hair grows, so even mistakes are short lived.

Not for women!  Hair is forever!  Oh well, I will write the check so she can have her hair dresser do it right.  She does have beautiful hair.

As long as it makes your wife not only beautiful but more importantly FEEL beautiful, happy and satisfied who cares if she drove 100 miles.

If you look at it in a positive light you will realize just how lucky YOU are.

BTW .. I, too, go to a regular stylist. Not because she cuts my hair better than anyone else. Oh no nothing minor like that but because she's attractive and said I looked like a "stud" after my first haircut with her.

You are just too harsh a critic

Maybe...but the standard rule of thumb for women and bangs or no bangs is Forehead size....if you put your first finger on your hair line..and your thumb at your brow..the perfect forehead will be 1/3 the size of your face...meaning if you keep that distance between thumb and first finger then place your first finger on your brow, you should go down twice before hitting chin.

If a woman has a five head...hehe..she needs bangs....or if her forehead is so smaller she needs bangs too but cut back further on her crown...so it balances her face out.

Now you may think this is being critical, but I went to school for this in college..because most tv reporters do their own makeup and hair....and you don't want a five head on tv....

If you look at the model with the long bangs above...she has a five head. Her forehead is almost as big as the rest of her face....

She would look better with bangs. If you don't believe me, put on or two fingers over her five head and see how much better her face looks.

You are going to cut your hair yourself? That will be interesting to see.

Maybe buzz would be a better word. With electric clippers, it is quite easy. I used to do it for myself when I was in the Airforce but haven't done it for years. I don't know if it will be anymore difficult and I have my wife to tidy up those hard to reach places.

My husband buzzes his hair every three days. I hung a mirror over the utility sink in the laundry room...which is right off the master bath...and he cuts it there. Quick, easy and best of all FREE...the clippers were around $10.

I don't know what it is...but some men just look better with no hair...my husband is one of them....of course he does it because he's cheap and because he's out of town so much...can you imagine trying to find a barber in a strange city every other week?

I don't like long hair at all on men. I don't like hair in general, no beards

I promise not to send you any pictures of me.

(no, my hair is short).

I see!  A ringer.  Ok, I will bow to the wisdom of the professional.  Besides, I have never examined it that closely.  KInd of like the senator and porn.  I know beautiful hair when I see it.

Well, I guess it is doable.  As the Telly Savalas I work with shave theirs.

I think you have to have the head for it.  And there is the "use to it" factor.  If you never saw them any other way, they would look normal with no hair, and weird with it.

For a beautiful wife's hair, don't begrudge her one cent! Link

HAHAHAH

That is true. When we go visit his family they look at him with their heads tilted a little to the side as if remembering "back when."LOL

Women and their hair...that's so loaded with the whys and they why nots! I can tell you about me and mine.....and that will take a lot of time!! Our hair is our crowning glory and when it doesn't look good (to us) it will drive us and everyone around us crazy! Cause we worry about it and talk about it and fuss about it!

Short or long if it's not to our liking we have to fix it somehow. And it's always hard finding the perfect hairdresser who treats your hair well. I haven't got one anymore and I'm paying the price. That's why I've learned to do my hair myself and it's not looking too bad these days! Although I do need a bloody good hair cut right about now!

And people with pointy or bumpy heads (like my cousin - he looked almost like Beldar!) should not shave their heads.

But the dirty secret is that very few women have bad hair, and usually that is because they are trying some 23rd century do.  Quite frankly, except for Demi Moore in GI Jane, I have not seen a do that looked bad on every lady, just some ladies should pay more attention to how they keep it.  And I am not talking $100 coifs.  Just some shampoo and combing.
