I’m a big fan of Logitech. I’m also a big fan of wireless keyboards and mousse. While I don’t play many PC games, I have not seen any reason not to use wireless keyboard and mousse except maybe batteries. I currently have a Logitech Cordless Elite Duo, the best thing I had so far, except the mouse is not rechargeable and when there are no batteries around at the moment, it can be a pain.

This is why I ask for opinions about the Logitech DiNovo.

I saw it a while back and it caught my attention fast. It looked sleek, slim and professional. It had all the features of my Elite Due plus more. The mouse is a great mouse, now the MX1000 Laser mouse with battery indicator, rechargeable, Bluetooth and extra programmable buttons. But my favorite feature was the separate number pad that doubled as a PC remote to control volume, playback and a few other things. Nothing like not having to get up to change the volume or move the movie back and forth or switch songs.

Though and expensive combo, I still want it bad. But I would like to get an opinion of someone who has used it before. I would like some feedback on this combo that I am considering getting when I build my next system before the end of this year. Anything you can give me will be appreciated. I also don’t mind some feedback on people who like it as well, to see what you think and what is your favorite feature.

I would also like to hear some alternatives to this combo. What you would recommend instead, keep in mind I would like to have most if not all the featured of the DiNovo or it’s a no sale. I wouldn’t even mind good features not found on the DiNovo.

Yikes. Unless it makes coffee in the morning and a sandwich at night, seems too expensive to be worth it. If you really want it, look on nextag.com or a similar price comparison site for a good deal. Good luck.

I have the DiNovo keyboard, media pad and mouse.

It is indeed very professional looking, and it works like a charm.

Only problem is it uses quite a lot of batteries over time.

Can't tell you how it works with games, since I don't play that much, and I hardly ever use the mouse, since I use my Wacom board all the time.

It is nice to take the media pad with you, sit on the couch and change songs if you're listening to music. I kinda do that a lot. Other than that, I really don't use all the fancy buttons it features.

i use this keyboard .. while not as flashy, it serves its purpose. is wreless and allows controll of media player as well as volume, cursor,etc all from my couch Link

I have the RF version.. and it does NOT suck up batteries constantly. Don't know about the Bluetooth version. But it IS damned comfortable to type with.

Well, I have just been blown away by this Keyboard. I always wondered how you can improve a keyboard with all the buttons they already have. I thought the DiNovo was a great idea, keeping the numeric keys apart making it like a remote control. But this, this is an amazing piece of PC hardware. But I have to admit that the DiNovo is my choice because of the features. If this Optimus Keyboard had these features I would get it hands down. Thanx for the link.

Actually I have seen it for much less. My keyboard cost about $100 when I bought it. I think it was worth it.

Nice to see someone using it. I figure the battery will always be a problem, I manage to fix that with a set of rechargable batteries. Charge one while using the other. Thanx for the insight.

My point exzactly. My PC is more than just a word processor, I do hundreds of things with it, music (play and edit), movies (play, make and edit), articles, games (all kinds), my kids education, photos (edit and display) and more.

this keyboard and mouse, much like the mx 5000 suffers from one thing....delay....each time you let the keyboard or mouse sit for 2 min or more, intial movement and keypress suffer from a lag or on keyboard it lags then doubles keys...then works fine... (seems to be a bluetooth issue)....but for gamers it really hurts....i got a g15 gamers keyboard and g7 laser mouse from logitech to replace my mx5000 and they are awesome, especially back lit keys...for average users the previous combo is good...but for gamers and enthusiasts go for something else.... logitech is still my number one pick for anything, but on the blue tooth items they missed it by a hair...the beauty, form and functionality lose over the 1/2 second delay.

I am a very happy owner of the 1st gen Bluetooth model that came with the mx900. I couldn't have been happier with my purchase. The keyboard is a joy to use. It is so comfortable! It is a pretty sturdy keyboard as well. It does not feel flimsy even though it is pretty darn thin. The media pad comes in handy when I want to control the media player from around the house. Battery life is excellent. I use the keyboard at home about 4 hours a day. I do a lot of typing and playing Counter Strike. Life is good, I change the four AA battteries every 4 months or so, and my mx1000 mouse requires a charge about once a week. I don't notice any lag while playing games with the keyboard or the MX1000 mouse. Also, this keyboard is so damn sexy!

The warranty service with this set has been excellent. I have gone through two replacements without any hassle. The first return was due to a key that popped out of the keyboard which I'm not entirely sure if it was my daughter that broke it or if it was a defect, whatever the case may be they exchanged it rather quickly. The second time the receiver just stopped working. I was told to keep the original set and just wait for the replacement. Lucky me, I now have a set at work using a MSI bluetooth hub for the receiver and the old receiver still charges the mouse and I get to keep a brand new spare mx900 on standby. I use a mx1000 mouse with the DiNovo set at home, I love that mouse.

I doubt you will be dissapointed with this keyboard and mouse combo if you purchase it.

I have this one. I hate it with a passion, owned the v1 before (the one that came with a hub). The problem with this one, is that it comes with a small USB dongle that you plug in directly into the USB port. For some reason, I'm assuming some sort of interference, it never works properly when plugged into the USB ports in the back of my PC. In this scenario, it suffers from extreme lag and erratic behaviour. I had to rewire the USB ports and move them to the top of my case. It's been working more or less fine when used in this manner, however it does still suffer from occasional lag and what is much more annoying, occasional disconnects (especially the media pad, it keeps on constantly disconnecting and sometimes won't reconnect).

The bottom line, from my experience, I'd avoid it like the plague and go with the previous model, which was much more reliable.

Having said that, this is just what I've experienced, your mileage may vary.

I have the version where the mouse charger is the bluetooth hub. Works great, latest driver update brings u 1.2 BT and seems a bit less laggy in wake up of the keyboard when it goes into standby after not touching it or during initial bootup. The media pad is awesome, the mouse I do not use as I use a logitech RF trackman - mice hurt my wrist - mouse comes out to play only for FPS's. I previously tried a wireless RF keyboard but it sucked bigtime. I cannot have wired keyboard or trackballs on my desk - too much clutter already, though that OLED keyboard looks darn sexy!

I've seen this keyboard "advertised" for several years now. I find it odd that they still have not sold even one. I think the original release date was in 2004 then summer 2005 now it's end of 2006, but they're happy to take on investors.......
