I'm still playing, though not as much as before. Man, this game is just hard to put down.

Agreed, I never thought that much about different strategies until the last three months. It is amazing the different routes people take to get exceptional scores, combined with the totally random universes, it is pretty much an endlessly replayable game.

I've played a lot of different types of computer games and GC2 is hands down the king of replayability, awesome value. It's also great the way they come out with expansions to keep the game fresh. I hope the pace doesn't slow down after TA. I'm hoping to see a GC3 within a year or so of TA's release.

Well, I'm over into point building mode now. Maybe a third of the way through my game....I see some promise in my testing, it appears I'm still capable of learning things (thank god!). I'll need another game to see if I can make it bear fruit! :)

Hummm... Anyone home??? ;)

My wife has owned the home computer recently...She has been actually using it for something productive, so I lose out! Talk about cutting into game time! :)

Hehe, fortunately for me, my wife owns the TV. A game console would never work in my household. Fine with me. More time for computer games!

My other half has taken over my Xbox along with the TV. She seems to like first person shooters of all things, so I keep quiet about how they're better on PC for the most part :)

Hopefully avoiding the tired console vs. PC debate here, but I think you're right. It's possible to keep a PC more up to date with the latest hardware, supporting higher resolutions and frame rates. How often does an updated model of a particular console come out, maybe once every three years? I get a new video card around three times in that time span. I suppose you could get a new console as soon as any maker comes out with a new one. That might provide hardware updates as often as once a year, but I think the video system on my desktop computer is always going to be more powerful.

Go away spammer!!!

@Craig I understand where your coming from and agree. When a console first comes out is the most powerful thing on the block, but they usually aren't more than six months ahead of PCs catching up. I own six consoles and enjoy them, but I htink one of my favorite things about PC gaming is I have games I bought when the Genesis was out and I can still play them right here on this PC. You can't do that with consoles, and even the newer ones that back port still have limitations.

Speaking of video, I just set up a new wide screen panel. Boy, every thing sure looks...well, wider. Anyway, it's a decent panel and it has fairly good performance. I didn't spend the big bucks, but I think I did pretty good. Games sure look nice. I think I'll really appreciate the screen real estate on those gig/abun games.

Congrats to Mumblefratz on claiming the number one ranking on the Metaverse!

Thanks. It did take awhile given that I was unable to submit a 872K game 6 weeks ago. But I don't think I have much chance at the AltMeta anymore with people posting 250 ZYW's in a month.

Yeah the ZYW gimmick is pretty overpowered, especially for the AltMeta. I started doing a few myself out of curiosity, and I'm averaging over 25k for between 15-25 minutes of play-time. My best so far is a bit over 28k, and I'll try to break 30k. My fellow Kzinti TorontoRock (Vesuvius) is somehow able to do them in about 5 minutes each....yikes!

I started to read posts since I last posted but gave in and jumped to the end.  :)

I'm looking forward to a break from school and work coming up and getting back into the game. I still have to get the updates. >_<

Congratulations to Mumblefratz on the #1 spot! A long time coming and no one deserves it more! :)

The Galactic Diplomats this is a late grating from the confederation. but a more pressing matter has arisen the Kzinti Empire. it has gotten to powerful if your empire joins with mine and many others of the Metaverse empires out there we can take them out and destroy them. please pass this on to any other empires out there who wish to join our campaign agents them.
Umm, I'm not entirely sure why we would want to destroy the Kzinti Empire. They seem like decent enough cats to me (pardon the pun). Even if we did want to, it's not exactly a viable option. At best, an empire could pass them on the meta and or altmeta, but I'm not sure how viable that is. That would have to mean all the smaller empires disbanding and forming/joining a conglomerate mega-empire. I'm not sure what the point of that would be.

Admirable enthusiasm though! :)
thats the point. to form a bigger empire then them and destroying them is just a figure of speech
Reply #1722 Top
thats the point. to form a united empire agents the Kzinti. Your are Diplomats right we will need Diplomats in the upcoming effort to take them off there title.

To Drengin, Purge, CraigHB, and others; from Kzinti Empire thread:

I had to keep resizing it, so I may go back later and fix it up some more.

And yeah, I could pass on the cigar smoke too but something that can be looked into. I wouldn't even mind reviving the Metaverse Council to be honest, but I think some overall would definitely be in order; I think, and i must state as a Non-Councilor, this is strictly opinion, but they got inundated by the bureaucracy of it all.

I do know that I personally feel that any form of the MVC, old, new, or re-imagined, should be public.

The only still active MVC councilors that I know of personally, are Neilo, Mumblefratz, and Wyndstar. I think MarshallONeil may have been one too.

Here are some of my more serious proposals:

Coordinating with Wyndstar and the Devs with the Tourneys. Much like the original idea by Ghostwes last summer (that evolved into the MVL) since its all the exact same scenario played by everyone, we could easily have Inter-Empire Games.

Promoting the MVL. And finally, really trying to see what obstacles stand in the way of integrating into the AltMeta.

Supporting and increasing the MV Empires both new and old, such as having their respective emperors and most vocal members being able to communicate in a public central locale to spur new ideas, MV issues, and friendly taunting. The OP would list each empire and a very brief summary. Basically, one thread that links to all the empires main pages.

Reinstating and expanding on the link between the Player and the Developers. The MVC had/has this but due to almost a year's worth on inactivity on the part of the MVC, something that could be reinstated and expanded upon.

what is a ZYW ?

Zero Year Win. Some players have got it down to where they can crank out a 30,000 point zero year conquest victory in 10 minutes. Play 250+ of those, takes about 50 hours, but gets you a massive Alt-Meta score to go with quite a high traditional Metaverse score, in about the same real-time I believe that a Mumblefratz style ultra-optimized gig abundant all. That said, I don't see anything wrong with it. I think it's valid and admire the discipline needed to keep churning these out. I figured out a rudimentary similar tactic back last spring (based off of a technique Wyndstar orignally posted) and posted it in the Diplomats private forum, but I only tried it a few times and never optimized it or had the drive to play more than a handful of games. Check out the ZYW club thread if you have interest in the topic.
