I just wish Ubi would get out of the PC games market. Right now all they are doing is trying to destroy it. Most average, non-hardcore gamer types that buy the games won't even realize what they are getting into till it bites them in the ass. Then they'll think "I never had to deal with this shit on my (insert console)" and look skeptically at PC games from now on. I don't think anyone is saying that all forms of DRM aren't acceptable, just over the top garbage that punishes the custo
I play n00bishly. Mainly because I play exclusively SP and enjoy the "creation" aspect of the game as much as the battles. Building bases, teching up, and a slow systematic expansion is fun for me. Of course, if I were to ever MP it I would have to totally change all that :) .

Well, I'm afraid I might not be able to help much. I grabbed it and it installed fine. When I double clicked the .exe UAC popped up and I clicked yes, then the installer did it's thing. Does the same thing as DA version and installs to totalgaming folder instead of Twilight/Mods, but otherwise went normally. Been awhile since using AVG, but maybe it is denying it access to make changes if it still believes it infected(Scanned clean on mine with Avira BTW)or maybe even something UAC related. S

I believe the 2.0 one comes in a .zip file. Is it not extracting the .zip at all, or is it the .exe that isn't working? I need to grab it anyways, but I won't be able to till after work this evening. Then maybe I can see what that version is doing. I'm also on Win7 64 so any problem may repeat itself. I know the DA one installs itself in the wrong location and I had to manually copy the mod to the right directory, but it still had all the dialogue screens for the installer so you could tell w

I just recently grabbed and installed the DA version and though the comments on the site claimed it had viruses I haven't found any and it's working fine. I know both Logic Sequence and the guys that run Imod and have never had a virus issue with anything from/through them. Could be a false positive with AVG, but you could try to PM Stefan at Imod to have him look into your concerns for peace of mind.
I remember hitting a bug, possibly during the DA beta where I had ten in. It caused issues on some of the foreign info/rankings screens. If ranked outside the top ten in anything it would just say something like Data not found error or some such.

After his, and I quote "marriage proposal to Saints Row 2 disguised as a review" He just couldn't be trusted anymore. On PC it had to be one of the worst games I've played in ten years.
I don't think any of those systems will make a difference if the reviews are tainted by publisher's clout and advertising budget. Personally, I use a monetary system as a rating. How much do I think the game is worth. What I would be willing to pay for it.
I'll have to go with GalCiv2 also. I had picked it up and put it back down on a couple of occasions(instead buying CivIV and SM's Pirates those times). Finally I held on to it when I picked it up and that was the start of 2+ years of playing almost daily. I still keep it at the ready in case the mood strikes.
I think I found my issue with the shutdown speed. My Asus probe doesn't like to play nice and shutdown when told to. Sometimes it throws up the force shutdown dialogue. If i shut it down ahead of time Win7 shutsdown quite a bit quicker. :)

Mod uploads had been broke for a while and it doesn't seem like anyone is interested in fixing it. Some people have been using I-Mod Productions to upload their GC2 mods.
I've seen some Karma fluctuations in the past. I think sometimes they get shuffled between forums somehow. One time someone gave me 1 karma on one site and 9 showed up, yet it just seemed to be moving karma I had from one of the other SD forums and counting it. It's strange at times.

Spaceforce: Rogue Universe is an open world space/flight sim kind of game. I tried it awhile back and thought it might be pretty good, I just suck at space combat sims. Great graphics too, but you might want to try a demo if available as some people love it and some seem to either have technical issues or don't like it for whatever reason.

Is it me or has anyone noticed that it does seem to take Win7 a while to shutdown in comparison to XP(never used Vista). While I know the focus(in ads and such) has been on startup and coming out of hibernation speeds, which it does seem to do a tick faster than XP, but the shutdown takes about twice as long with basically the same amount of third party stuff running. Usually it's something not noticed, but I am one to stay in the room till I hear it totally shutdown just in case so I notice

Yea, They're still pricey at the moment, but hopefully it won't take them long to drop with the 480/470s hitting the street recently. Just got through reading a review of the 480s and man, it's kinda disappointing. Here six months after ATI's DX11 offerings and they can only come close to matching the 5xxx series in certain games. Supposedly you only need about the same amount of processing power as playing a movie, or less really since the your machine isn't even having to actually play it, just display it. A somewhat speedy single-core, integrated graphics and minimal RAM to play Crysis. That could be one of the few upsides to the whole ordeal. If it even works.
