Why wait for someone to put together a full Desktop X theme? I have the XP look right now and all I'm using is WB, ObjectBar, ThemeBar, and Icon Packager. Voilá!

feline, people want to know your gender simply because it'll help them decide whether to hit on you or not. Take it from someone who's been mistaken for a female several times over the five years I've been using the internet
Doing a variant skin within the parameters set by an existing UI isn't a sign of lack of creativity on the part of the skinner.
Thanks for the article, Frogboy. Cute kid, btw
Whoa! That was one hell of a fall! Hope the pain subsides soon I've been there, and I know what a pain in the ass the mythical "Quest for the Sweet Spot" can be...
Congrats, Alexandrie I've bee using several of your XP variants this week. My absolute favorite is XP Forest. I've only recently started to learn skinning myself, so now I have an even bigger amount of admiration and respect for those that take it upon themselves to give the community new and creative ways to look at our desktops.
tee-hee. The jack-o-lantern is awesome!
I'm not a "supporter" of either type of software. If I like a program, I use it. If it's freeware, hey, GREAT. But if it's a commercial product, then I'm willing to pay for it. I respect both devs equally. What do I do when I can't afford a program I want? I look for a free alternative.
For game programming you can't go wrong with good ol' C++. Not sure what the folks at SD use, though.
I'm a Christian, so I believe our conciousness lives on after our phyisical death. I have a friend who's an atheist and doesn't believe in an afterlife. The way I see it, it's a win-win situation for me... If there IS an afterlife, I'll get the chance to say "Told ya so" to him. If there isn't one, he won't be able to ruib my nose in it
Aww Emily, I'm sorry to hear about your SO
Biggest mistake? I passed on a spot in a small independent team that was making an RPG. As it turns out, the leader of the team got a high-paying job at EA, and they're subsidizing the team. Pardon me while I go kick my own arse...
Nice idea, Bill A good starting point might be astalavista.com
Wanna know what I would LOVE to see (and would biy right away)? A book in the style of the "secrets of the game programming gurus" series of books. Maybe something like "Skinning secrets from the masters" or something to that effect. It'd be great to have our fave skinners providing tips and tutorials for us rookies, as well as maybe providing anecdotes about the creation of some of the most famous skins (i.e., what was it like to create the first Aqua skin, and thus incurring the wrath of Apple
"But who is the ennemy? Who are we to bomb??" Exactly. paxx said it best. Personally, I believe the parody is inaccurate, and the only reason now one had done one up tillnow is because every writer with half a brain knew it was an inaccurate parallel to begin with. I'm also afraid that in Bush's haste to satisfy his constituents deman for a culprit he'll ignore proper UN procedure, as he's been doing latgely. "Help us... or else." "Hand over bin Laden even thou

I guess I'll be the first to comment on the new WB3 beta. Excellent work! It's noticeably faster on my Win98 box (P3-500, 128MB RAM, 32MB VRAM) than v2.2 ever was and even the most elaborate and memory-demanding skins (Macwintosh and the like) are much smoother under WB3. There are still a few graphical glitches (loading a Convergence skinpack from the Display Properties menu sometimes yields weird results) but all in all, this is the best WB yet!

Before I say anything else, let me get this out of the way: treetog, you should seriouslly consider legal action. The fact that you've made your work available for free does not in any way lessen your right to control over your work. This is unbelievable... I registered a WC account just so I could reply to this. Whoever this ripper is, he/she/it is the proverbial net troll. Let's look at the signs: - When confronted, his first insult will invariably be directed toward
