Thanks. I could enjoy a game of just designing things. Conquering the known galaxy is just icing on the cake! [e digicons]:D[/e]

so, these are 2 ships I designed: a colony ship and a constructor. Both are Terran ships. Constructor is 1st: Then the Colonizer
thanks for the replies. it all went easy when I actually started the game.
I purchased GalCiv3 today on Steam. I would like to name a star but can't do it. How do I do it? My Stardock account doesn't recognize that I've bought it.
I'm not sure if it would work, but you could try leaving the UP council after loading an earlier savegame.
Has anyone else had this happen? I recently was in a game where the Drath had bribed the Korath and the Drengin to declare war on me. It was really early in the game. I had just begun to build small defenders and there had only been on UP Council meeting. A couple of turms later, the Drengin show up with their dreadnaughts. It wasn't pretty. I never saw dreadnaughts so early ever. This has now happened several times.
Don't know if this has been mentioned before. I'd like to see more political and economic instability. Maybe more options for directing the economy. Right now its pretty straightforward. Except for the odd recession, which has nothing to do with how you are running your economy, the economy just keeps growing and growing. And while it is very idealistic, politics is not a straight line toward a utopian future, and I can't see the Drengin and Korath as anything other than despotic autocracies
There are 3 tabs above the construction list. Make sure that the Newest tab is active. Hope that helps.
Which brings up something I *would* like - a built in ability to configure screen information via xml. Which is frustrating because there are a lot of understandable decisions that aren't quite right for me. There are screens I consistently have to flip from one screen to another with - most recent example, I have five spies - but I have to set F4 to the espionage tab, F5 to the reports tab, and flip back and forth in order to verify w
I like to do lots of micromanaging. It is annoying, but I like to do it because it adds more depth to the game. Take the Total War series, that's the kind of micromanaging that I like. You have full control of your economy. You have a decent amount of control over your troops. Etc, etc, etc. But, it is at times too much to handle.
I've played TW for years as well. And I'm not saying I don't want micromanag
I think it's irrelevant what an individual gets paid as it regards GC though, since there are no individuals. We are looking at macro economics. The question would be how to address this within the context of a game. Trade could be handled internally, where an algorithm determines a fluctuating trade level based on the size, development and trade goods available within a civ. Alternatively, the player could physically have to send trade ships from one planet to another in order to develop the
I agree the trade income needs to be revamped. If a civilization has no currency and is trading with one that does, then one would assume that the currency would come from the civilization and not from the individual who really wouldn't understand the need for money since she hasn't used it.
However, even an imperial currency would have to be based on something. Our currency today is only based on itself. No gold or si
before you go patting yourself on the back for thinking star trek has no currency. Let me remind you in the very first episode, The docter purchases some cloth and tells the clerk to charge it to Beverly Crusher care of the Enterprise. So all tho they don't have any currency they have some kind of pay.
I remember that episode, can't remember who said it, though. Anyway, they would have to h
I'd like to see a better trade system with actual goods to trade. And I think there could be a few special planets around the galaxy that have certain unique trade goods, like the Spice in Dune. You could only trade a good to another planet that didn't already have the trade good. Also, there should be the ability to trade within your own empire. Maybe that trade would be at a smaller percentage of regular trade, maybe not, but it makes no sense to not be able to trade to your own planets.</p
That should be would NOT look alike up above. For some reason I can't edit my post.
No problem playing the game. No CTD's so far. I have an AMD 64 2800 with a gig of RAMs running around and an ATI 9250 with 128mb memory (I think). I also found the tech screen confusing. It would be nice to see the ships that have been built at a planet show up as some sort of icon. Also, the drones don't appear as more than an itty bitty dot on the screen. They get lost very easily. One problem in creating ships. It is damn near impossible to remov
The animosity between Israelis and Palestinians is a result of the Holocaust. The creation of Israel may have occurred anyway due to the terror campaign of the Zionists, but the Holocaust certainly created an atmosphere conducive to the political action of the time. At the time Israel was created the pendulum had swung far in favor of the Jews because so many had been killed. This gave them a very strong political base. The Palestinians had no such pol
If you look at history, the US most probably approximates Rome around the first or second century CE, or Great Britain in the 19th century, at least in terms of relative power and prestige. A very powerful nation that is both loved and vilified. Yes, we do use our overwhelming power, but not always, and not in every situation. We use it and will continue to use it for the forseeable future to protect what we see as OUR interests whether or not some oth
