Isn't the point of the metaverse that we submit our games that we have won and if there is a pattern that the majority of people are using to win then the designers will try and counter it in updates to the AI? Perhaps I am just naive but thats how I understood it.

Is the AI or the player penalized for poor diplomacy? In other words, if I constantly pressure a weaker civ into a peace treaty and then declare war over and continue to repeat that process, am I penalized in my relations with other races? Should I be? And by penalized I mean if I have shown to be untrustworthy in my diplomatic dealings, then should it be more difficult to gain favor with other races?
I agree that it is more realistic to not allow for the upgrades. The magical upgrade from Sherman tank to M1 ala Civ III is quite unrealistic. However, what is realistic is the fact that you can scrap those obsolete war machines for some return on the original investment. Might take some of the economic (and pyscological for that matter) edge of having to simply disband my fleet of BattleAxes I use to initially defend my worlds and to beef up my Military stats to avoid being bullied into bank
Any chance of adding in a feature to upgrade weaker ships such as starfighters and corvettes to a higher class. Maybe not necessarily on a one to one / ship to ship basis either. Its just becomes fairly useless to have star fighters around or even BattleAxes when your enemy has Dreads or better and is kicking the crap out of your civ. The only option is to build up new ships (which takes time) and you might as well disband the useless weak shipswhich also can be tedious. Any thoughts?
